Hello Limit 3

Good music ...enjoyed very much. Liked the words and voice ...especially, the female one. I believe you have potential to do much better should you focus on few things.

On the music part, there is just too much keyboard, constantly..even when you are singing. Why?
Is the drum you are using is a real one or is it one of those digital automated ones? If it is a real one, then I must say your recording totally sucks!
Where is the bass? I don't hear it. I guess its' just dominated by loud keyboard. Remember, bass is the definition of music, so crank it up, (fire the keyboard guy)
I like your idea of harmonizing, it sounds good ...but I suspect you are harmonizing in the same scale, both you and the female voice. (There is no variable between two notes) How about trying octave scale? 1974 AD has done very good in this category, especially the #2 song in their album. Try listening to some of the old Simon and Garfunkel tunes to get some concrete idea in harmonizing.
Good enough guitar work. I suggest you put little bit more ‘over drive and distortion’ and small effect of ‘delay’. Remember ‘still got the blues’ from Gary Moore?
Use the real good old classic piano. It sounds so much better. Get rid of cheap electronic synthesizer please. (fire the keyboard guy, he’s annoying)

But other than that…Nice going!

The song is fine but few comments:
The drums sounds really bad and loud. And even the beat is kind of monotonous. And I think the guitar solo is a bit long for a song of 4 min. A better distortion or a wah-wah peedal would also be nice. I can hear the bass but you just need to crank it up a bit. And also, even though the bass should flow with the drums, could you have a diffrent beat for bass? Thay way it would not give a dance beat. And as vision stated, the synthesizer is a bit irritating. And if you could have some sort of transition in the middle, itwould be great. Not many nepali songs go in transition. It will make your music a bit complex and not just give a dance bit.

Song is great. But like others suggested, the continious background keyboard sound is annoying though it is nice interms of melody and rhythm. The guitar play in the middle part is too long. As you listen to the song, you tempt to get confuse whether you are listening to the song or just the solo guitar piece. Male voice is enticing. I carefully listened to the song, it sounds like you have fusioned different versions together as I notice the diffrence in female voice between the first verse and the latter. Unlike the previous one, the latter sounds more slower and did not go well with the music. Correct me If I am mistaken here. The first female verse is song by SG..no doubt about that as I can feel the flow and the second verse is by your little bahini, haina? She sounds great though.

thanks lenney, oys, vision, jhapali and toilet paper for your response and suggestions.
The recording was done back in '99 and I was fairly new to recordings. since then I've learned a lot, hopefully i'll do better this time.
I hear you guys about the cheesy keyboard parts. If I redo the song, I'll definately get rid of the keyboard part and add real bass to it.
and oys bro, we could perform a song representing sajha. what do you say guys?? jira, krishna, soliel, prempulari, poo dai and others who are interested.
Takura Posted on 16-Jan-03 02:50 PM

Limit 3,
You guys got talent but need a little direction. As most of the guys say, too much guitar in the middle. The best part is the girl's verse. She is terrific- good scaling of voice and harmonization from chorus couldn't have been better. Nice start!

Takura ji,
I guess I get carried away sometimes while adding solos to the songs. I'll make the solo shorter if I rerecord the song. And the 'terrific' female singer is no other than our one and only SUKMIT GURUNG.
Jira, both verses were sung by Sukmit. And little bahini seems to be doing pretty good these days, practices a lot, she even bought a guitar which she's been learning quite well!
Vision Posted on 16-Jan-03 05:08 PM

Sukmit Gurung? Really ? Dude ...thought you're just putting up your band together, turnout you're dealing with the vets eh? Well ...you better start polishing your music to meet Sukmit's voice.

BTW love Sukmit, love relimai...

Vision, I did not know so much involves in listening a song! :) Great CHIR-FAR!!
limit 3 thanks for posting your song! We need some more here in SAJHA.
Vision Posted on 16-Jan-03 05:36 PM

Yep ..Noname, music is more than just a gingle. Hoina ra limit? I like to pay attention to greater detail. There's always a chance they'll end up being one of those noname catogory band. Just my lame attempt prevent such mishaps.
