Why not go good old definite way? Better for our economy (here in US and for Nepal too), because Nepal gets the foreign currency when we send through regular merchants.
For example, Thamel.com should be better for us (if you are not sure, then send small money at first to see their reliabilty).
We should all avoid Hundi, and especially Indian banks (nothing against India), but, if you send through banks which has branches in India then India get's the Dollars and they send Indian currency to Nepal.
Myself? I always did through regular banks. Credit Unions are much cheaper than other commercial banks (20-25 dollars per transaction).
I find this as the best solution.
You can reduce cost otherwise but you will increase the risk and may not help that much in Nepalese economy either.
