Lot of discussion going on about the controversial Roe versus Wade decision on news channel. Some feel womens right to choose abortion may be under threat because of Republicans in control of the White House and Congress. Even the President Bush praised the pro-life campaigners, saying they shared his commitment to build what he called "a culture of life" in the US. I wonder how people in Nepal specially those who raise the voice for womans rights feel about abortion. Personally I think every woman have the right to decide whether to keep the child or not. "Culture of life" sounds so good but same unwanted "life" creates so much problem in society ..crime..drug..
I was reading Himal nepali magazine and saw an article about the sex workers in Kathmandu. It estimates around 30,000 sex workers in kathmandu alone....Isnt this surprising considering the culture of Nepal. When someone talks about condoms in TV/Radio, society considers it as vulgar and corrupt...but I guess Kathmandu now needs to wake up and organige the workers involved in this field...May be declare some area as Red area..or whatever..Instead of allowing cabin resturants to be their "working palce".
