Even though such questions are often asked, it's obvious that marrying a non-virgin is not a bad thing. Pressures and one-night stands aside, there are plenty of couples out there nowadays who come to a mutual decision to make love before marriage (if marriage is even part of the equation anymore). Sex is not a dirty activity for dirty people; it's an expression of love in its most natural form. You can't fault any woman for wanting that.
The problem with most men is that they want to have their cake and eat it to. They want to sleep with as many women as they like, yet frown on women who do the same. And therein lies the problem: Guys find women for one-night stands, but they're extremely reluctant to settle down with women whose sexual history is just as colorful as their own. So how is one supposed to find a virgin when "holding out" is considered passé, and women are pressured to put out?
One of the most interesting quandaries to ever surface from the dating pool is whether or not dating a virgin is still a man's preference. In a world where sexual promiscuity is rampant and the practicing of abstinence has all but died out, just about everyone is having sex -- so much so that deciding between virgins and non-virgins almost seems useless. That is, until you look at data that suggests that many men want a "nice" (read: virtuous) woman to settle down with. But if sex before marriage is a standard practice among today's generation, is finding a virgin that important, let alone possible?

Male are borned to win the world. He wants everything belongs just to mimself. Women is on of it. It's not just the case of virgin. Lots of man when they come to knew that his GF has been kissed, starts to act differently.

Bravo to Catz. Very well said. The difference is just that, men want their cake and eat it too. Double standards that women have been dealing with forever and probably will for a long time to come. I belong to a generation that is labelled as "western influenced" which a lot of the older generations cringe and frown upon because they do just see the negative effects of the Western world. Yet it is possible to gain a lot of positive notes from this world and one such is the art of self discovery. Our culture prohibits women from discovering their purpose, their mission, themselves in life without the permission of the family and once married the husband. Yeah there are a few out there who do respect the girls choice and let her discover her future.
Sumanshrestha's comment"male are borned to rule the world"... first of all we will not even get into Mr. Shrestha's English. But "male are not borned to rule the world", even though it seems like it... but that statement alone is like a kick in the womb of the Woman who gave birth to your sorry ass. Let's see how you rule the world when you can't even express yourself in simple and plain English. In case you haven't "edumated "yourself in history, here's something you need to look up: "What did all the great leaders in the world have in common... the answer is not the biggest and baddest army, the latest warfare gadgets... its the art of speech." When you master that then come back and maybe the possibility that you will rule your own house will arise.
I apologize to the rest of the intellectual people in this thread for that outburst. But sexist remarks are definitely passe.
Coming back to the topic of why men prefer virgins...my perspective on that simply stated after all this blah blah blah is the double standard that exists in every culture, not just ours. Here women with a "colorful" sexual history are labelled SLUTS while the men get patted on their backs and boast of being the STUD. The women don't make it easier on each other either... biggest downfall of a woman is another coniving and jealous woman.

If women can pretend or feel innocent, especially women of Sectarian Hindu tradition with double standard (modern education and value of sectarian Hindu culture and history) they can also have the cake and eat it up. There are many who can do this - just feel innocent and first time job on a honeymoon night as men do! If you can do this that will be a transformation in your conscience that is heavily conditioned by the sectarian Hindu values and beleives.
Coming to the first world with the sectarian Hindu values and believes, getting educated in the universities with critical thinking training and scientific observation descipiline how u doing? Still love the sectarian Hindu values and beleives without critical thinking and scientific obervation for its cause, that is attached to the past and therefore history. Yet it is for your daily living the values and believes. How u can feel free to be innocent from a loving relationship prior to the your marriage?
Sectarian Hindu tradition and its values and beleives are male dominated and maleshouvanism. Unless and until those values are questioned and thought critically with scientific obersvation such freedom in a relationship is next to imposible unless women also can play the double standard.
What a dream for sectarian Hindus with the first world education without obeserving clearly such conditioning that is so dominant in one's unconscious as unquestionable values and believes as nothing but men made propogandas!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is a stupid topic. Are you sure you can still find virgins in this MTV generation ? In the age of hooking up.. to find a virgin is like finding an oasis in the desert. This is the 21st century and lets live it like its our times instead of going back in time...shall we ?

Every body seems to have missed the most obvious answer to the question
'Why do men prefer virgins?"
The simple explanation is*:
Those men who prefer virgins suffer from inherent low self-esteem. They have doubts about their ability to 'bring the beacon home', so to speak and hence they are intimidated by the prospect of hitting the hay with ladies who have seen the world. So if they pick on a virgin, who lacks the comparative prespective, they increase their chances of getting an A grade even if their actual performance is at best C+. The virgin preference is thus a convenient ruse for protecting the fragile male ego.
Women on the other hand are much wiser. They don't subscribe to the virgin myth and instead seek experience in men. The emphasis here is on performance, not some putative reputation. This partly explains why many more married, elderly men find themselves going beyond the call of duty to answer to the needs of young ladies.

What if the guy, who is looking for a virgin bride is a virgin himself? Listen, if you're going for arranged marriage, then yeah, of course you're gonna be looking for a chic who hasn't had her cherry popped. I am 100% a virgin, and I ain't gonna be marrying someone with loose you-know-what, the type you usually see in porn movies. As I said before, there should be no double standard when it comes to picking your wife. If you're a virgin, then you **DO*** deserve a virgin, and if you're not, but you're looking for a virgin, due to some skewed reasoning of yours, then that's plain wrong. Like deserves like. What's so wrong about that???
When two virgins have sex for the first time, it's going to be a rump roast, rather than a delecious barbecue. Everybody knows that. Using your logic to grade sex, every virgin couple would be getting a bigass F stamped on their derriere. It's **not just*** WOMEN who enjoy sex, men do too.
And I know a 30+ yr old virgin --an American-- waiting for her knight in shining armor to give her the RIDE of her life. Y'all need to watch talkshows sometimes. I remember one show, where a guy, who was saving his virginity till marriage, got totally betrayed by his fiance, a virgin when they were engaged. All I can say is, you guys need to meet some Catholics.
There is no need to pretend that you're so enlightened only after a few years of stay in the US on tourist visa.

I still remeber some saying..for a good the perfect pair is a bad one..
so for this simple reason..men who are not virgn want and most cases get a virgin..but in the other hand ..virgin men don't get that..is that fair??? bhagwan ke ho yesto ha???
