hello,
Recently, i have been sponsored for a GC, I know it's a long process but under this new law my lawyer says i can get it within 2 years. I just think its just a speculation some of my friend says it takes overall 3 years.
I have to go Nepal this coming Dec any cost. Lawyer says by that time you will get your labor certification and then you can apply for travell document which I mightl get with in a month. Do you think within this 10-11 months i will get necessary document to go home. Applying GC seems so vague and confusing . If anyone got good understanding pls your information will be helpful and appreciated.

labor certification 6 months
+finger printing 6 months
+approval 6 months
+card in hand 6 months after that.
total 24 months if everything goes smoothly, they misplaced my file for 6 months....I had to keep on calling them.

It's not so long process.
If everything goes smoothly, you can get it within 10/12 months.
You better to visit smart lawer first.

Once you got labor certificate you are eligible to apply I 140 , I 131, I 765 and I 485 ( work permit, travel document, adjustment of status).
But time required to get labor certificate varies state to state. If you are in MD, VA, TX, DC ....labor certificate could take upto 1.5- 2 years. If you are in state like WV, Maine...you could get within 6 months.
Once you get labor certificate if you apply I 131 ( travel document ) you will get that travel document within 3 months ( maxmium). Hope this information helps you.

For those who have yet to apply for a green card. Take my suggestions:
1. Don't hire a Nepali lawyer (they are too sidha sadha and not very smart).
2. You would be better off hiring a Jewish lawyer.
