My personal preference is Expedia.com since it displays your itineraries is more details in addition to providing more flexbility on designing your itineraries. If you are flexible on your time of departure then you may want to try Priceline or Hotwire which could give your better deals. You start bidding with the price you want to pay, and raise your bid until a mutually acceptable rate is found. Please note that you don't know your time of departure or airline until you purchase your ticket on the latter two, and if you are not satisfied with your itinerary, you lose your money. I have not used their services for air tickets but did find a better deal while renting a car from hotwire. It may also be worthwhile checking out individual airlines websites as they often offer fares that are not available elsewhere. A minimum 21 day advance purchase with departures on Tuesday, Thursdays or Saturdays AND including a Saturday night stay may be your best bet. Good luck!
