Speaking of GAA, recently a group of GAA members traveled to Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) India to attend the Sixth World Congress of Jesuit Alumni at St. Xavier's College, Kolkata.

The meeting, attended by delegates from Jesuit-run schools and colleges from India, Nepal, France, Spain, Germany, the US and Scotland, was inaugurated with a stirring speech by the President of India Dr A P J ABDUL KALAM, himself a graduate of a Jesuit-run school in South India.

On one evening, the visiting GAA delegates were treated to a sumptuous dinner at the Sky Club in Kolkata by the graduates of North Point School (Darjeeling), many of whom now hold pre-eminent positions in business, media and public service sectors in West Bengal and India.

Over drinks and dinner, North Point's Fr. Kinley, a young Bhutanese Jesuit priest who speaks excellent Nepali, and the legendary Fr. Van entertained the GAA delegates
with a number of jokes and stories.

The GAA delegates have invited North Point (Darjeeling) faculty, students and graduates to Nepal sometime later this year. The idea is to have have friendly
basketball and football matches with them, and to hold joint reunions and dinners
for alumni based in Kathmandu so that better contacts/networks can be established between the Kathmandu-based alumni of the two institutions.

From the GAA's side, the World Congress was attended by:

1. Fr. Cap Miller, SJ, a teacher at St. Xavier's School.
2. Fr. E. L Watrin, SJ, the GAA moderator
3. Mahendra "Honda" Sakya, the GAA president

4. Hira Krishna, acting Principal of St. Xavier's School, Jawalakhel
5. Krishna Bikram Thapa, a retired executive at the Standard Chartered Bank
6. Mr. Nirmal Krishna Shrestha, a chemistry teacher at St. Xavier's College

7. Gyan Lal Maharjan, now a teacher at Rato Bangala School
8.Mahesh Sakya, a businessman dealing with audio equipments in Kathmandu
9.Ashutosh Tiwari, a GAA executive committe member

10.Neelesh Shrestha, a GAA executive committe member
11.Niroj Shrestha, a GAA executive committe member
12.Bishwo Lal Shrestha, a medical student
13. Nirish Sakya, a GAA executive committe member

The next Congress will take place in Cameroon, Africa.

Hey Ashu,
Regarding the Constitutional Reform talk program, is there a possibility of posting a talk transcript online? Although I do not know what goes into it technically, i.e. producing transcripts, I would greatly appreciate it if that could be arranged somehow.

I am not in Nepal currently and therefore am unable to attend. However I am working on issues related comparative constitutional law, needless to say I am researching viewpoints of expert Nepali constitutional lawyers. There is a tremendous dearth of such work that one can access abroad.

Thanks in advance.

Svengali,

I'll see what I can do to get a transcript.
But no hard promises.

At the least, I may be able to get an electronic copy of the speaker's
presentation, and, if so, I'll email that to you. Let's see.

Hope law school is treating you well.

Svengali,

I now have Mr. Bharat Upreti's paper. It is about 17-page long, in Nepali.
Hope your computer has Preeti font.

Email me your address, and I'll send it to you as an attachment.
