Suggestion no. 1:
Merchantile has branded PC with 2 years warranty for very low price. If there is a local merchantile dealer near you, go for it.

Suggestion no. 2:
If you are sure that you don't need any good warranty and try to save a couple of thousands more, go for a locally assembled PC from a PC supplier in your own town. Even you don't have a well written warranty, local suppliers tend to care if it some parts fail shortly after you purchase a system from them.

Suggestion no. 3:
Don't buy a computer in Kathmandu and take it out in other districts if you want to carry the warranty on products. A local supplier/technician is can help you promptly (with low cost) when you have your computer failed.

I bought a pentium 3 computer from Sati Enterprises (New road)about 3 years back. During this time The computer developed problem twice and people from Sati repaired the computer and took a small fee for their services.

If you know at least something about computer before the purchase then it helps. You may ask your techie friend to come along.

You may decide to install Linux instead of the usual windows operating system. First of all it is free! And it is perfectly legal unlike the pirated windows (except with branded computers). And the linux desktop has become very easy to operate too. And what' s more- you can use your office suite with lindows.
