Being a big fan of Australian cricket team and especially of Shane Warne, following whom I picked up leg-spin bolwing, Shane Warne's departure of the world cup cricket is a very sad and shocking news. I was expecting to watch some quality spin bolwing this world cup, but with very few spin-bolwers of such class in this world cup, the entire cup will look very plain. I am sad for both Shane Warne and the australian cricket team. I hope, this deparure won't cast any set-back on this undoubtly the greatest spin bowler's career.

It is a very sad news for Cricket fans around the world and for the Australian supporters. Australia will be missing one of the top performers the game has ever produced. His galiant spell in the '99 world cup semifinal and final single handedly won the cup for the powerful Aussies, which will be remebered in days to come. He has done that for the Aussies, many a times in his brilliant career.

In '99 world cup semifinal, South Africa were cruising along to victory. It seemed highly unlikely that anything could stop them but one man Shane Warne. His 'never die' spirit lifted the Aussies from such a poor condition they were in to win them the nail-biting semifinal encounter and then his 4 wicket spell in the Final got him the man of the match and Australia the cup.

But without Warne too, Australia are the favorites. Australia might have not made the 1992 World Cup final, but did win the last World Cup and are current champions! Opening batsmen reaching top form, a plethora of bowlers regularly hitting the mark, and the second string team able to beat almost any other team they play. Depth, commitment and the will to win - beat that.

In my personal views, It just shows how stupid anti-doping rules in sport have become when innocent medication can be cause for a sportsperson's ban. Warne should be allowed to produce the medication for testing and explain why he took it, and, if innocent, be allowed to continue in the World Cup matches. His ban is simply officialdom gone mad.

However, being not so critical here, rules are rules. However inadvertently he broke them, he must pack his bags and head for the airport. It's a pity - but that's life, and thats what sport is all about. Even a player of the calibre of Warne tested positve for banned drugs and it shows lack of utter professionalism and lets down not only his supporters but cricket fans all over the world.
