Satya ghatana ma aadharit EK JUNG Ek jung lai ke bho ke bho sanchai chhaina aach kal. He does not like to eat anything, does not feel like doing anything - not even his dream game- sex. He couldn’t believe he was remaining down most of the time. He was losing his breath even after making a trip to toilet, a huge toilet by the side of that thum dada under the immeasurable sky. Tyo pahad ko eklas ma usko tindhure gharma Ek jung din dinai niras hudai thyo. Adhikary dada ma aayera taala bakhre khola tira herdai dikka hunthyo….tyai dada bata radha kisna sita ram bhadai ramnami odayera uslai kudaune hun ki chhittai bhanera….Ek jung’s family members were really really worried. They tried many jadi buti..many tablets from the health post in the next thapa taar…but no…ek jung lai bis ko unnais bhayena….dhami jhakri ni dherai ufaryo usle…khali kukhoro ra bheti chyapera hinne bahek aru kehi garenan dhami jhakri le ni… Ek jung, one morning, decided to visit the hospital in jilla sadar mukam. He was in no shape to walk one whole day to get there. So, he rode on his Jabbar-horse-and headed for the treatment. Chandra man also accompanied him. Chandra man was a khandania nokar at Ek jung’s place. They reached to the jilla sadarmukam hospital. The only doctor there was busy playing cards with other jilla ka karmacharis at CDO’s place. A. he. Ba. (Assistant health worker) took control of the daktari pesa. Wrote something in a piece of paper and said..”la yo dabai tyam tyam ma khanu thik hunchha…” Ek jung tyam tyam ma ajha hunchha ki bhanera tyam hunu bhanda ni ek ek chin agadi dabai khanthyo …kina niko hunthyo…bhayena….feri pugo jilla aspatal…this time he really insisted on meeting the doctor…finally his patience paid off. Doctor took a brief exam…chhati ma dhyak dhyak hanyo….mukh bauna layera khai ke heryo... tetheskop pani layera nikkai dhyan le sunya jasto garyo…ani nabhujini achherma dabai lekhidyo ra bhanyo tapailai khai kuni ke Ek jung le birsyo ahile..tyo rog lagya chha…yo dabai le thik hunchha bhanyo….With great appreciation Ek jung thanked the doctor … with high devotion he kept taking the medicine but his condition continued to deteriorate. Ma marchhu kyare…Ek jung le hares khana layo…tyapani ek patak biratnagar samma ta janai paryo….saas chhaunjel aas….Now Ek jung was so weak that he could not even ride on a horse. So, thunchhe ma bokiyera he came to dharan then went to biratnagar….people were saying ghopa ma ramro janchchha…but somehow he wanted to goto a bigger city…. Biratnagar ma doctor le ragat disa pisab sab ek sarey jachera pyattai bhandyo…tapailai tb lagya chha…Ek jung sarlyat surlut bho…but the doctor said…don’t worry Ek jung we got the medicine for the damn TB…you have to take the medicine with strict routine for 16/18 month course…you will be all set. EK jung thanked to himself for coming to Biratnagar. Rog ta khuttiyo ki yaha…he thought. He started the course (medicine course for TB). He came back to his village. One month passed, now Ek jung was not even able to sit by himself. The last night he saw three yamdoot with yampas waiting for him. He cried the whole evening and resigned from his life. Kasto rog lagyo he parbhu…Ek jung was completely destroyed. Hijiko raunak sabai khattam bhai sakya thyo. Had chhala mattai…bhetna aaune haruni mulh agadi mattai thik hunchha dhanna namannus bhanthe pachiltira aba dher din chhaina yasko bhanthe…Ek jung himself knew..he got just a few days…. Baitarni saitarni das daan…he did them all. He was in no position to take any chance over there. He didn’t want to mess his comfort over there in the next world. Sinka jasto thyo Ek jung….kehi khanai man nalagne bal garera khyaye banta huni…ad dai naadne…devi than ma duita kukhuro chadaudani kehi asar bhayena….”Ma abhagi paapi ko khappar….”Ek jung cried. Ek jung continuously was thinking about the paralok and wanted his people to read ramayan and mahabharat for him….but one day an old man came to his place…and said ke bho Ek jung? Ek jung didn’t even feel like explaining but he some how did…the old man asked Ek jung after listening to his ordeal…”ok would you take my medicine?” Ek jung thought kasta kasta kaha gaye musa ko chhoro dewan…but he said “aba Biratnagar ko doctor samma le garda ta bhena…” the old man insisted…”khayera ta hera”. Ek jung le jhanakka bhanyo “khanna ma kehi ni aausadhi aba,,,,kaal ko ni okhati hunchha”?. The next day the old man came again and gave some herbal medicine to EK jung and said, “since you are all set to die anyway, what disaster will my medicine do to you…niko bhaye hunchha nabhaye….ram ta chhadai chhan…” Man nalai nalai Ek jung took the medicine. Bholi palta ta yatra yatra juka niskiye…ek hapta ma Ek jung ko rog chat. Ahile ta Ek jung bis pachhis jung jattiko baliyo po chha ta!

Deep Ji, Very well written. I had similar experience when I was a child. When I was 9, I had figured out the simptoms of juka and tell the doc to give me the ausadhi for juka. This story reminds me of those days..

My cousin was operated for appendicitis.... but later we found that the doctor had no idea of ascaris (juka) inside his intestines. See... he had to stay at the hospital for 21 days for nothing. Tesmathi hospital basdako kharcha, surgery, family tension, dashain ra tihar tehi bela.... Damn!

Well, I have a similar story from when I was 11. Pahila high fever jasto bhaera my parents took me to the Sajha clinic in the morning. After taking the medicine prescribed by the doctor, I started throwing up whatever I swallowed, even water. I was rushed to another well reputed pediatrician then but all the medicine that he prescribed did was to increase the frequency of vomiting. So the same evening I was rushed to the emergency room of Kanti. I was given some ausadhi there and sent back home. That did check my vomiting but by the next morning, my fever was even higher and I could not even walk. I remember my father literally carrying me to the taxi. So I was back in Kanti, diagnosed for meningitis, and hospitalized for a week or so. Dui char din ta saline diyera rakhyaa thyp. Dhanna baachiyo.
