Excerpts from an interview with the member of the famed Koirala family in Nepal, who crossed the Himalayas to gruel in Bollywood's dusty studios. Could you tell us about the causes you are involved with, which inspired you take up the role of a sex worker in Market? Nepal, the country from where I come, is a poor one. Often girls there are conned into prostitution by the lure of money. I happened to visit Maitri Nepal, a rehabilitation home for destitute women. After interacting with them in my own small way, I know exactly what they have gone through. Working with other NGOs too helped me realise the plight of these women. I have also read a lot of data on them. I have seen documentaries and have also met girls in rehabilitation centres in Mumbai, Kolkata and Delhi and bonded with them. So, when the script of Market came along, I decided to take it up. As a producer, do you plan an epic role for yourself? As a producer my dreams and priorities are different from that of an actress. For instance, as an actress I would have preferred to play Sushmita Sen's role in Paisa Vasool, but as a producer I feel that she is more apt for it. As an actress I am excited about playing the role of Indira Gandhi in N.Chandra's film. If I can convey even 90 per cent of her charisma and personality, I'd be happy. How have you been preparing for this role of a lifetime? I have been reading books on her. I will also be watching footage filmed on her, which runs into nearly 300 hours. I will definitely be imbibing the most prominent aspects of her body language and nuances. You have been in and out of relationships. But, you still seem to be pro-love. What constitutes this positive attitude? I have gone through a lot of frustration and bitterness. I go through as much pain as anybody else. I am not superhuman. But I try to concentrate on the positive aspects of a relationship. I don't run away from problems. No human being can escape humiliation and suffering. Life is full of problems. But fighting back is the best way to deal with them. I feel everyone deserves happiness and one must aim for it. I once told a saint that I wanted to be happy. He said, 'Suffering is the only answer.' I may be down for a while, but I won't dwell on suffering. I believe in looking for the light at the end of the tunnel. How does it feel to be complimented for your looks? Earlier, I was callous towards my looks. I was bored of listening to how pretty I was. I felt I owed it to God's grace and to my parents. Mera kuch lena dena nahin hai (I have not in any way contributed to it). But, of late, I have realised that beauty is a gift one has to care for and preserve. But I am not obsessed with it. I know that with time beauty will deteriorate and then one has to age gracefully. http://nepalworldnews.com

Manish Koirala is pretty and I guess at a certain age she too has realized that unless she works at preserving her good looks it will fade. So good for her. I have been bothered thought that she is playing Indira Gandhi and not some other Indian woman. If I were Indian I guess it would bother mw. But maybe she IS Indian or is perceived as such to bug Indian actresses. Fo her no doubt, playing Gandhi is truly going to be a role of a life time.

She is an actress. So I dont think her playing Indira Gandhi is a negative thing for her or for Nepal. Its a great accomplishment for her. Something we can be proud of. Even if it not be for Nepal, let it be for one of our Nepal's daughter. Jai Desh. Jai Charesh. ;)

Kahin nabhaako jaatra bollywood ma!!! The brand new mantra in bollywood is "hollywood and oscars". They are simply fascinated by those two words. It started with Lagaan, One of the best movies bollywood had ever produced (tall claim?, it is). That movie had real chance to win. This year they sent Devdas. There was big halla-khalla, 3 months prior to the release of final nomination list, that Devdas was nominated for Oscar. Even Times of India used to call it "Oscar nominated Devdas". When the final nomination list was revealed, Devdas was nowhere in the list. (There are lots of article on Pre and post Oscar nomination, I was tryin' to link it, but the Times of India website is so messed up). This movie on Indira Gandhi, it has both "Hollywood and Oscar" components. They have Hollywood make up artist, who is working on Manisha's makeup, and they are makin' it keepin' Oscar in mind. Plus, there will be some songs. Imagine, Indira Gandhi singing song, dancing with Feroz Gandhi in Chaar-baag Dehli. There was another movie back in 70's, Aaandhi, made by Gulzar, which was also based on Indira Gandhi's life, and it had some beautiful dialogue and songs. Poor Manisha, now she has to compete with Suchitra Sen (the Great Bangali actress in the movie Aaandi), and our Manisha doesn't know anything about acting. Hope Hollywood makeup artist will bring that intensity in Manisha's eyes, that Indira Gandhi possessed and Suchitra Sen Portrayed. They must have some contacts, after all the makeup is straight back from Hollywood, and Hollywood can do anything. (Well, maybe not really. Remember Aaawara Paagal Deewana? The Action scene's in the movie were done by same people who did "The Matrix", and "Crouchin' Tiger Hidden Dragon", and the action in Aawara.... SUCKS..!!) Why am i writing this?? Pressure aayo!!! eessss
