Hi all, Could any of you share your experiences from a recent interview? Like for the question, "what do you consider to be your strengths and weakness?", what could be a good answer and how would you support your answer? What could be possible 3 strengths that i could mention and how would I support them ? As far as weakness goes, I am clueless on what kind of answer they expect on this one. How and what would you mention as your weakness without significantly reducing your chances of being selected for the job? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. |

Hi hyterica, I was warned about those questions by my advisor. With the strength question, it depends on the position you are applying for. I am in Marketing so I give examples that imply that I am great with people. One of the examples that I give is how I lead a team on a 13 week assignment project..how I initiated it (self starter)..made out the plan ( good planner)...delegated responsibilities ( leadership) and made sure it got done on time...worked out any conflicts within the group...just things like that. If you don't have a great story, use your imagination and stretch reality a bit to suit your needs. I find the weakness bit a little tricky. The typical answer I hear from many is "I am self critical..sometimes too much"..and then you turn it around to say that that makes you set higher standards for yourself. I found this website useful if you're an entry level job seeker with little professional experience http://www.collegegrad.com/jobsearch/16-15.shtml I hope that helps somewhat. Good luck on your job search ! |

This is a tricky question you need to say something like I am a perfectionist and work very hard until it is perfect The manufactured answers are 1. I am a perfectionist and I work very hard until I get it "just" right. 2. I work harder than I should 3. I give so much empasis on details sometimes I over do it. You need to present your working traits in a manner that it sounds like your strength. You never want to say anything negative about yourself. Hope this helps. Good luck. |
