South Asia Studies is a promising field of study, and one where it is relatively easier to get jobs in, when jobs are getting scarcer. Thus South Asia Studies is an option to be explored for those interested in the field, even for us who are from South Asia.

Here's Uni Of London's say on..

Skills you have gained from your degree

If you have studied a South Asian language as a major part of your degree, you will have acquired and mastered verbal, aural, and written skills to a fluent level in the language of the area.

Your ability to interpret and analyse language will be of benefit within the job market because you are able to gather, select and interpret information.
