AN APPEAL : Follwing letter was submitted to the CBS.COM WEBSITE... request all proud Nepalis to respond to this outrageous incident by clicking on to the FEEDBACK logo at the bottom of the CBS.COM website. You may see the 'top ten' posted at http://www.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow/#

To: C.B.S & Dave Letterman
From: A Hurt Nepali

Are American jokes made to hurt a country that is already deep in mourning over the loss of their beloved Royal Family? This is in reference to the Dave Letterman Top Ten Excuses for a Gun Totting Yankee Fan aired recently, when Mr. Letterman and his audience got a kick out of making a sick joke (#5 "You never know when you're going to run into a member of the Nepalese royal family").

This looks like nothing but pathetic and typically American disregard for people in the rest of the world, not even sparing people who are in deep shock and in mourning and make them the butt of your jokes...too cheap too lowly!

It would be in the best interests of Mr. Letterman and C.B.S. to air an apology immediately for hurting the sentiments of 23 million grieving Nepalis, before you face the curse of every Nepali forever.
Sincerely,
A hurt Nepali

why doen't everyone complain??? Go to the website and write how you feel about this mockery. David Lettermen will soon be out of his job. Forst he mocked Miss Columbia and apologized and now he mocked all Nepali citizens.

When stand up comedians make fun of the American President, you laugh at it. But, when they make fun of the Royal Nepal family, it's not funny anymore. Letterman did not make fun of Nepali people, he made fun of the Nepali Royal family.

curious,

David Letterman would not have dared make a joke if an American Presidential family had gone through a tragedy of the magnitude that our Royal family has gone through... I do not watch David Letterman and hence do not laugh at its jokes... my attention was drawn by a previous posting in the board.... but anyone in his/her sane mind would not go about making jokes about someones death right after it happens....the joke made on the death of the Royal family of Nepal is a joke on the Nepali people.

Oh come on... let's not go into these hysterics.
I saw the show last night, and thought it was fine. The image of a gun-toting crown prince is all that the world has at this point. And they certainly were not making fun of Nepalis per se by any stretch of imagination.

There are MUCH bigger things to complain about: suppression of the freedom of press, for example. Let's get our priorities straight.
