AUM NAMAH SHIVAAYA
Aaja ko din maa Shivaji ko puja path garne, Pashupati jaane, ganja khane ani vajan mandali maa gayera jhumma vayera basne din ho.
Maha Shivaratri is a night of fasting and prayer in honor of Lord Shiva in His aspect of destroying sins and bad things. The night is called Shiva Maya, i.e. a night to spend with thoughts of Lord Shiva. As the Lord of the universe He is full of compassion and only punishes out of Love and for the good of mankind.
Shree Pashupati Nath (Maha Shivaratri)
"Shivaratri is a word that connotes the dual nature of man and his duty to discriminate between the higher and the lower. Shiva means Jaannu (the Higher Wisdom, the Unifying Universal Vision); it also means the lasting, the timeless, and the beneficial, the holy, the auspicious. And the second word, ratri, means darkness of ignorance, the blind pursuit of tawdry pleasures, the bewildering will-o'-the-wisp of sensory joys. It also means the transitory, the fleeting; it connotes the maleficent, the inauspicious, the sacrilegious. So the message of Shivaratri is: Discriminate between Shiva and ratri - the Prana (life energy) and the Body, the dehi (indwelling spirit) and the deha (body), the spiritual and the material..."
Bhairava or Paramashiva are names given to the Supreme Absolute, the "One without the Second" in the Shivaic tradition. Nevertheless, this Pure Transcendent Consciousness can be perceived and conceived by the common human mind only by means of a personalized form, capable to be addressed to by the human understanding. This aspect of the Divine Supreme Force bears names such as Maheshvara, Shankara, Bhagavan, Isha, Shambhu, etc., the transcendent and at the same time the immanent Deity whom all believers, regardless of religion, form or appellative worship and adore. As Swami Vivekananda put it, this somewhat personalized form of the Divine "is the supreme form the human spirit may grant/confer to the Absolute."
Let's hymn this Mantra for 5 times in this holy day Or night.

On “Tantra of the great liberation”
-Book Review
The book “Tantra of the great liberation” is an English translation of Mahanirvana Tantra. This book was written some eighty years ago in 1913. The author Arthur Avalon seeks to give the reader a genuine impression of the Tantra and its message.
A hefty portion of the book is devoted to the “Introduction”. This introduction seeks to acclimatize the reader to the subtleties of the eastern culture. Terminologies which even the average hindu has forgotten are revealed. The meaning of the mantras and the importance of the yoga are dealt with in this book with superb understanding of the inherent tatwa.
An interesting point the author cites is that this particular book contains only the first part of the Mahavirvana Tantra. It seems that while the first part of the Tantra is widely available, the much powerful second part is relatively elusive. A Nepali pundit, an owner of the second part of the Tantra, refused to allow publication of the manuscript. The likelihood that some unscrupulous person could use the knowledge engrained in the book for maleficent purpose was simply too great.
The Tantra itself is the dialogue between Shiva and Parvati (Skakti). Parvati encouraged by the desire of moksha for the people of this world asks Shankar the ways and means for the mankind to avoid the cycle of rebirth. It is pertinent to mention at this point that Shiva is the source of all knowledge and education according to the Tantra. This is not to be conflicted with Saraswati who too represents Bidhya or knowledge.
Shiva tells Parvati and by implication to the mankind about the non-duality of the Universe. He says “Brahman is the sole truth”. The aim of the Tantra is to liberate the dev, the Saiva and the pashu.
Mahadev informs us about the Dharma and the customs of the Castes and Ashramas. One interesting thing to note here is that the Tantra makes for little distinction between the various castes and their relationship to the Harihar. People of all castes may practice in the worship of the deity albeit in their own prescribed way. Bhole Baba, as he is fondly known among his worshippers then goes on to instruct on the rites related to our Dharma. SadaShiv says that even if you may not be able to devote much time due the various distractions of the present age the simple mantra of “Om Tat Sat” recited before the commencement of any undertaking is ever successful therein.
The book makes for a holistic reading. I must warn you though that unless you are already familiar with the Sanskrit vernacular and the customs of the oriental people then your reading will slow to a crawl. For the book does not attempt to convert every Sanskrit word into English. The author argues that some words carry meaning that could not be identically matched with an English word. Fortunately the patience held during the vast introduction chapter does help in cruising through the actual translation portion of the book.

My all time favorite is Nirvanashatkam by Adi Shankaracharya. It is the essence of Vedanta. It is devoid of fantasy and rituals. It is considered the most intellectual stanza, that addresses the truth directly. It goes beyond religion, culture - beyond everything. It is what Einstein says "Universal religion", what modern physicists call "quantum self".
Tat tvam asi, Shivoham, Shivoham. Beyond all, beyond everything, beyond nothing.

Thanks for the link. Relly great stotra and probably something that adi guru sankaracharya (1st) hismelf wrote. As far as my little knowledge goes, adi sanakarsarcharya did not write many stotras that we think he wrote such as ShivaPanchaXyar, Pashupatistotrsa and "bhaje brajaika-mandanam" etc. becuase he (the originl Sankaracharya) devoted 25 eyars of his life reading, interpreting and addidg to the Philosophy.
I read the stotra, and its more like Charwak's theory/philosophy--bhramam satyam jagatam mithya (m).
Also,
May I ask where did you learn Sanskrit and Hinduism?

Dear colleagues,
Tremendous debt of gratitudes are due to Trikal ji for his hard effort to bring such a nice topic at the stipulated time. Of course my gratitudes are too due to all who have spared their precious time to shar their feelings in this regards.
An original skeleton of post is really attractive, pragmatic and Abundant with real beliefs, elements and feelings. Of course I can leave leave no stone unturned to thank to Freak ji for his comments. He seems to be orthodox, stubborn and a gigantic dramatist too. He has presented a charismatic role of many of sajhaieties here.
