AT a time when peace talks are in a progressive phase between the government and the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist), a wing of the government has filed a case against Babauram Bhattarai and six other leaders of the Maoists at the Patan Appellate Court, alleging their involvement in the killing of police personnel in the Bhiman Police Office In Sindhuli District. Bhattarai is the chief coordinator of the Maoist team for the peace talks. According to the sources at the Appellate Court, the government has demanded more than 10 years of imprisonment for the offenders.

It may be mentioned that before the ceasefire, the government had filed a case on January 13 at the Special Court, charging the leaders for killing 11 police personnel by attacking Kalikot District Police Office two years ago.
