The arrest of three senior journalist doesn't seem to be a good omen. It is also an ill-considered act that will not be taken well by educated public once they wake up tomorrow. If this augurs what king Gyanendra's regime is likely to be in future, it is sufficient for us to guess about our future. The pressing matter right now is the arrest of these three people. I am actually convinced that at least one of the shooters is Dipendra. May be somebody shot him from the back later. However, when we look at the incidents from cool mind, then we must realize that there is no power vacuum in KTM now. There is king, queen, PM and everything like before. It is again Nepal as a state. But, the big difference is we have three journalists arrested for publishing a bold article about a view of a faction of Nepali people. We can't give up our right of free press to the myrmidions of Gyanendra/Girija (Hell, what difference does it make for us now!).It is time we voice our opinion to safeguard inviolable rights given to us by our constitution. The gbnc community can make a press release and email that to some local press in KTM, to start with.

Biswo.......you came up with some credible logic. Yes, the King was a figure head and still is and therefore Nepal will continue with the political turmoil and turbulences, as before. The Figure head was removed and replaced. They are not the ones with the real head, which can think for the country and take actual action. Maybe it is a little more complex than that but looking at it logically that is exactly what we see. The arrests of the journalists are very disturbing and hopefully when they are released they do not get the tongue from the " figure head" so to speak.

Perhaps whichever judge issued that arrest warrant can be made to testify on the merits of that warrant. I am still having a hard time beleiving that the arrests were under the directive of the "palace". More likely, Girija's government, in another example of its quest to "silence" CPN-Maoist (through extra-constitutional means), is playing this trick. The question is: will there be reparations paid to these people for false arrest if the charges don't hold up? Hari
