Can you suggest a few names that are good for me as a year old driver with clean driving record? I tried Geico, Progressive...but can't afford them. Any other names?

State Farm. AAA (triple A). Good Luck
DWI Posted on 11-Mar-03 03:43 PM

Nuts,
Try Liberty Mutual Insurance. My quote from the was almost half of what Geico quoted. Obviously it depends upon individual and the vehicle but I would suggest you to try a local auto insurance broker (Desis if available). Also call Liberty Mutual Insurance.
Let us know what happened.

If you are married then it will be cheaper also.
Try http://www.esurance.com
Yankees Posted on 11-Mar-03 08:38 PM

You did not mention which state you reside, not all insurence have services in all states like State Farm does not have service in NJ.

If you are resident of NY try this company

Great American Insurence
Ph# 1800 894 2886

Good luck

For those who has at least 5 yrs of driving history and not more than 2 minor violation in the last 3 years and also has an American Express credit card..... insurance is damn cheap... try calling American Express Auto Insurance.

Nuts, you may want to try Atlanta Casualty and Farmer's Insurance. The latter is my current insurance company. Of course, your premium is determined by various factors such as your age, driving record, type of vehicle etc etc.

Hi all,

here's my stats:(if it helps)

Resident of PA
will be using the car in NY
car : 91 toyota celica
got my PA license 8 months back
completely clean driving record
age 22

any further suggestions?

There you go... be prepared to pay higher insurance than some older folks.
chipledhunga Posted on 11-Mar-03 10:33 PM

Well Nuts, to summarize your stats

plus points: clean driving record, old vehicle
minus points: age, short driving record, sports car

I was in almost a similar situation as yours when I became a new driver at the same age as yours. At that time Progressive had quoted me a far better rate compared to others. Once I crossed 25 though, then other companies started offering better rates than Progressive. As of yet, I have not had any luck with big names such as All State, State Farm, Geico etc.

Good luck to ya.

Nuts,

I don't know much hagi, but I think I should share what I have learned.
I am in NY State.

Insurance is high here:

1. If you got your driving license LESS than 3 years ago.
2. If you are less than 25 years old.
3. If you are not married.

You are 22, just got the license and I assume you are not married, so its gonna be high.
Insurance in NY state is a back-bone-breaker, but I heard that PA is pretty cheap compared to NY. I've got progressive, and I can see my hard earned money on an every brick of the building they've established.

Kya bore!!!

Dude, Don't go nuts over high insurance premium. Try this:

First of all, don't tell the insurance company that you will be driving in NYC. I repeat, Do NOT TELL THE INSURANCE COMPANY THAT YOU WILL BE COMMUTING TO NEW YORK CITY. If you disclose that you will be driving in New York city, your premium will skyrocket. Just tell them that you will be driving back and forth to your work which is about 10 miles one way from your residence. Less you drive, cheaper your premium will be.

The best way to save in auto insurance is comparision shopping. I know it is tedious but it works most of the time.

Nuts, try this:
go to www.google.com
search for: auto insurance (you will get thousands of results)
Go to couple of sites and get their contact number and call them for quotes. DO NOT FILL OUT THE QUOTE FORM ONLINE. That will be just waste of your time. When you call them, give the rep. your information ask for a quote.

Ani, when the rep. gives you the quote, tell 'em that you are just comparing the quotes right now and another insurance company already offered you couple of hundred dollars less than what (s)he's offering. Then the rep. might lower the quote by adding some more discounts.

If that doesn't work, go nuts! Or you can call me, I might be interested in buying your car ( BTW Toyota celica hoina? what's the mileage in it?)
