Nepal's royal family has a history of hiding their internal affairs from the public. Times have changed. If you are a public figure, you will do better among the people if you keep your affairs as an open book. I hope the new royal family wins the hearts of the Nepali people by speaking out the truth, bringing witnesses to the front, preferably evidence as well. It took King Birendra three decades to win the hearts of the people. King Gyanendra faces a tough challenge ahead.

At 53, I wonder if King Gyanendra will ever be able win the people's heart in his lifetime. This will prove to be a mammoth task for him.
1. Many people have already suspected him of the recent massacre.
2. His son Paras's reputation will be damaging to his own reputation.
3. His own reputation of being a hardliner, opposed to democracy will certainly not help.
4. He has lost his brothers who may have supported him.
5. He never expected to be King (quoting his St Josheph teacher .. father something), so he never prepared himself for this.
6. Time is running out .. the average life span of the shah kings and princes in the recent times has been 50 to 60.
May God be with him and may he win the people's heart in due time.

Do we really want him to win the hearts of the people knowing that he is against democracy and that his son is a murderer? I pray that the people of Nepal know that they deserve better than that. They deserve freedom of speech and the freedom to choose their own leader. They should not have to settle for anything, including a King.

Let's not jump into conclusions. He is just a suspect .. just as anybody else in the royal family or even the royal nepalese army. So, let's not brand King Gyanendra a murderer right away. He surely is unpopular for his hardline advocacy but was he behind the recent murders? All are conspiracy theories .. these may be and may not be true. And the bigger truth is that the real truth may never come out OR we may not know it even when the real truth comes out. So let's just chill out.

I was referring to Paras in killing 4 people in hit-and-runs. Sorry if I wasn't clear.
