I always had hard time believing Gulzar was a Punjabi. Good one Dilasha, nice posting. Here are select others: * Aaj kal paaw nahin padtey jamin pe mere. Good to see so many Gulzar fans in Sajha. My own favorite is 'Raha pe chalte hain' from 'Namkeen'. But just about any song Gulzar has written is a masterpiece in its own right. He is incapable of writing a bad note. nbs |

Dilasha Jyu, Nice Translation!! Gulzar is a great writer; there is no doubt about that. I was just wondering if you have heard these non-film albums written by Gulzar. 1. Sunset Points: It’s like an audio book, where Gulzar narrates the story. It has like 8 songs in it. All of them are great songs. It starts something like “Who ghar se bhaag aai thi us rishtay se bachne ke liye Jo bin chaahye uske daaman se baandhye jaa raha tha” 2. Vaada: Composed by Ustad Amzad Ali Khaan 3. Udaas Paani: Composed by Abhishekh Ray (Tried hard to find this album in my town, and the store keeper told me, he couldn’t find it in NYC either… hmmm.) 4. Visaal: With Gulam Ali 5. Marasim: with Jagjit Singh. 6. Dil Ka Padosan: Non-film album composed by great R.D. Burman, and sung by Asha Bhosle. It has like 14 classic songs in it. They are all worth a collection. Anyway, One of my favorite Gulzar songs is from the movie Satya. Badalon se kaat kaat ke, Kaagazon pain naam jodna Ye mujhe kyaa ho gaya Doriyon se baandh baandh ke, Raat bhar chaand todna Ye mujhe kyaa ho gaya. Ek baar tumko jab baraste paaniyon ke paar dekha thaa Youn lagaa tha jaise gungunata ek aab-saar (waterfall) dekha tha Tabse meri neend main basti raheti ho Bolti bahoot ho aur hasti rahti ho Jo tujhe jaanta naho, Usse tera naam puchna Ye mujhe kyaa ho gaya!!! Thanks guys! It’s nice to see many Gulzar fans out here. Isn’t he so awesome? DWI, yes he IS a Punjabi. Sampooran Singh was his real name. If I were a journalist, he’d be the first one that I’d interview. He’s too good! He mentioned in an interview that Phir se aaiyo badra.. and mera kuchh saamaan are his alltime favorite songs. Thanks for the information PremPujari ji. I have heard about Sunset Points but not the others. I will definitely check them out. Surya, what I've done is downloaded songs from Kazaa which is the best way. Before that, I used to go to Smashits.com which is a pain in the neck with all those pop up ads. Do so through Kazaa otherwise there are plenty of links that you can google. Premi ji, the last one you posted, the Amol Palekar song is very nice to listen but doesn't it sound a bit selfish? oh well, i guess a little bit of selfishness is present in every premi, haina? ok, here's one for the day. It's from the classic Waheeda Rehman, Rajesh Khanna and Dharmendra movie called Khamoshi. Dilasa jyu "Ye jindagi gale lagaale" is from Sadma (Kamal Hasan and Sridevi). One of the few "good" hindi movies. Music was by Illayaraja, and It was sung by Yesudas. Does it sound selfish?? hmmm... Pr'ly I was feeling selfish (which i am 24/7) at that moment when I posted that song. hmmm... How about this Rahman's song? Dilasha, I also think it was a boat song featuring wahida rahemaan and rajesh khanna--simply outstanding song and cast-- wasn't it? Btw, have you any chance checked out this new Hindi movie with remixed classic songs. I think its called--Dil Vil Pyar Vyaar, i recommend to all who are into classic hindi songs. And the movie actually is not bad either, an entertaining romantic story! PPjyu, Maile mero 16th floor ko jhyaal maa basera gun gunaako sunibakyo ho? ;) Aba ali saano swor le gauna parlaa. With your suggestion in mind, will hum it again in Europe (Amsterdam maa hoina ta? ;) on a gondola ride in canals!! sounds plausible? But before Amsterdam, Haiti tira pugiela jasto chha. I seemed to have missed this thread somehow. Gulzar is eternally fragrant with his songs!
