LET’S PUT "THE FRIDAY ROYAL PALACE INCIDENT" ON THE SIDE FOR A SECOND. I’VE SOME QUESTIONS, AND I NEED YOUR ANSWERS. MAYBE, WEBMASTER CAN HELP SETTING “ QUICK VOTE” (LIKE ONE IN CNN) IN GBNC WEB PAGE SO WE ALL CAN SEE HOW MANY PEOPLE HAS A SIMILAR VIEW ON THESE ISSUES 1. WHAT WE NEED * REPUBLICAN GOV. * CONSTITUTIONAL MONARCHY * AUTOCRACY ( THE KING) 2. IS IT OKAY IF GYANENDRA ACTIVELY INVOLVED IN HIS BUSINESS EVEN AFTER HE BECOME THE KING? OK NOT OK 3. WE NEED TO REVISE THE CONSTITUTION IF WE KEEP THE KING, SOME CHANGES ARE NECESSARY (LIKE: THE KING SHOULD PAY THE TAXES; QUESTION CAN BE ASKED IF NEEDED.. ..SO ON!!) AGREE DISAGREE 4. SHOULD WE KEEP THE NARAYAN HITI DARBAR AS A HISTORICAL SITE (A MUSEUM) UNDER THE GOV. AGREE DISAGREE 5. THE NEW KING WILL LIKELY TO PLAY ACTIVE ROLE IN CONTROLLING MAO'S INSURGENCY. AGREE DISAGREE 6. SOMEDAY, PARAS WILL BE THE GOOD KING. AGREE DISAGREE

This is an excellent idea. It will be much easier to get a grasp on what the community thinks. Hopefully, the results can be made known in Nepal and provoke people to speak out on what they want.

HI ANOTHER NEPALI, WE AGREE ON MANY THINGS EVEN SELECTION OF NAME AND CHOICE OF UPPER CASE. I AM NOT AN ANTI-KING BUT I HAVE A STRONG FEELING OF THEIR FINANCIAL BELONGINGS, ACTUALLY BELONG TO THE POOR NEPALESE PEOPLE. IS THERE A WAY TO WRITE TO THE SWISS BANK AND SUSPEND ANY TRANSACTIONS OF THE LATE KING BIRENDRA AND QUEEN AISWARYA'S ACCOUNT AND NATIONALIZE THEIR SAVINGS OR ESTBLISH A TRUST IN THE NAME OF LATE KING AND QUEEN THAT WILL SPEND THE MONEY ON DEVELOPMENTAL WORK. THAT MONEY BELONGS TO NEPALESE. IT WOULD BE RATHER DISSAPOINTING IF KING G AND PARAS DOES MOJ-MASTI AS APUTALI. PARAS CAN HAVE THE LEXUS SUV THAT DIPENDRA USED.

Hey two nepalis: Is it just a conincidence that both "Nepali" are using the upper case? Just a friendly query, mate, why are you using upper case? Do you think your ideas are more important than ours? Why don't we just stick to a standard practice? I certainly respect your freedom to use the font you choose, but your freedom ends where my nose begins. What does everybody else say?

tHANKS FOR YOUR QUERY. EVERY BODYS IDEA ARE IMP. DONT'T GET ME WRONG. THE USE OF THE NAME HAS BEEN REPEATING MAKING READERS CONFUSE. SO I STARTED UNING THE UPPER CASE AND OTHER NEPALI DID ALSO THE SAME. SO I AM USING n of nEPALI IN LOWER CASE. THIS WILL NOT AT LEAST CONFUSE ME.

Pls stop the uppercase use postings. This is such an eyesore. I am sure someone who sounds as intelligent as you do (no sarcasm here, mate) should have a problem finding yourself a new name?

I really don't care about your name. Doubt whether one zillion people who are currently logged on GBNC do either, frankly. What concerns me is your messages. The upper case message is an eyesore. hey dude, who cares about a name in any case - people are logging in GBNC for IDEAS. You are really possessive about your name (as nEPALI), right? How long have you been using this one? My suggestion - not to use the upper case postings (in messages) - is to make the postings uniform and avoid eysore.

The idea of voting is ok but this MAY be marked as the anti-monarchy activities. (nEPALI with small n).

I agree it could possibly be marked as that. What it should definitely be marked as is a freedom of speech activity. Which under is right guarantee to Nepali citizens since 1990. All we are doing is exercising that right. What is the King or the PM going to do- throw us all in jail- even those not in Nepal!

...and here is a message to demonstrate that someone else, too can post a message under the name, nEPALI. So what are you going to do, first nEPALI, call yourself nePALI, since I am now nEPALI? No, seriously, how dare you guys capture an adjective that describes more than 20 million of us, and then claim it as your own name, and complain that someone else uses it too? This site is so lively just because people can post anonymously, just because it allows us to speak our views without fearing that we end up in the same cell as the Kantipur editors (poor fellows). But if you want to be anonymous, don't do it by hiding among a crowd, and then complain that there are too many people around you!!

Please read a book about how the "US government works". It has check and balance system so that one branch is not powerful that the other. U know executive, Judiciary and (I forgot) It is impressing.

So how do we proceed with the vote? Everyone posting their answers here will create a mess. Who keeps track? You, whoever you are, who first suggested the questions... how about you print out a couple hundred copies of your questionnaire, and bring it to the GBNC memorial service on Saturday, and provide a sealed box with a small slit for people to drop off their answers, and then provide your findings in this forum. Just keep it at a respectable distance from the place where people pay tribute or you may have some angry royalists chasing out the door.

please visit cnn.com, you'll soon find out what i'm taking about the "quick vote". you don't need to print out 100 copies, and distribute to everyone. you're now in 21st century. wake up, dude!!

Why don't you add a Quick Poll in this web site and see what other viewers think about it? You can find a Quick Poll under the discussions Section on the main page.

... but in a CNN type quick poll it is all too easy for one person to vote more than once. Hey, if I feel strongly about something, I'd vote 100 times... from 100 different computers if necessary. Remember when TIME ran the person-of-the-century contest? The government of TUrkey urged its citizens to vote as many times as possible for the founder of modern Turkey...

I have designed this quick poll application so that one computer can cast only one vote per poll. I hope the visitors find it usefull. Best Regards

I'm not very knowledgeable about computers, so I have a few questions for those who are. (1) In a quick poll application, what about networked computers? I'm thinking about universities that would have more than one Nepali student. Would each computer register as one computer because it's on a network, or does each one computer have its own identifying number? (2) Could answers, opinions, and so on be tracked to their source by some security agency?

Different applications act differently according the way they are designed. The Quick Poll app you see in this site, does not track anything about the user. The only thing the server recognizes is that the browser has taken the poll. Hence, no matter if your computer is in a network or not, it will be considered as one computer. If this application was tracking IP address, then the whole university could only submit one poll, but this application tracks on the basis of individual browsers. Most business sites track user habits extensively by use of complicated applications because thier user habits can change business decisions, but in this site, there is no need for tracking user info and creating major tracking applications. Regarding tracking you down. ANYTHING you do can be tracked down if the investigators have FULL cooperation of the Internet Service Provider that you are using and FULL access to server logs. Since the logs tend to eat a lot of server space, GBNC site is not currently keeping any logs. Getting back to the Quick Poll app, it does not track what answer you chose or what question you put up for the public. Hope this answers your questions. >I'm not very knowledgeable about computers, >so I have a few questions for those who are. > >(1) In a quick poll application, what about >networked computers? I'm thinking about >universities that would have more than one >Nepali student. Would each computer register >as one computer because it's on a network, >or does each one computer have its own >identifying number? > >(2) Could answers, opinions, and so on be >tracked to their source by some security >agency?
