Interesting!

Matthew Engel in Washington
Monday March 17, 2003
The Guardian

Recrimination at the failure of US diplomacy has begun in Washington, one source close to the administration admitting yesterday: "This has been the worst American diplomatic debacle of our lifetime."
Administration sources suggest that this is the prelude to a postwar bloodletting in which the secretary of state, Colin Powell, will be the fall guy.

He will be blamed for encouraging George Bush to take the issue to the UN, for failing to grasp the extent and power of French and Russian opposition, failing to anticipate that the weapons inspectors would not adhere to the US's timetable, and for his puzzling refusal to pursue the kind of shuttle diplomacy normal in the state department for the past 30 years.

"There's a recognition this has not been our finest diplomatic hour," the New York Times quoted a senior official as saying on Friday, adding that his voice was "dripping with understatement".

In the Washington Post James Mann of the Centre for Strategic and International Studies described the administration's foreign policy as "a major intellectual failure" that would have consequences long after the war is over.

This aspect of the crisis has finally given Democratic contenders for the 2004 presidential election - most of them terrified to attack the president directly over Iraq - an issue they can hammer home without having their patriotism impugned.

Guardian seems to be in the neutral side but it's not. You can see the how guardian will go when the tory comes to the power.Yes, you can see the tireless effort made by the tony blair.Bush's next election has no hope if you see the minority scattered in the US.

What the saddam didn't do in the last 12 years he is not going to change in the days. His peoples (he claimed) are ready for the war. The suffering of the Iraq from the basic human right is mercyable. The islamic human right commission is just for the name. There comes a religion before the human right for them.

In one hand the UN resolution veto by the french are foolishness. They seems to be transparent oppurtunist. They forgot the brit-americam soldier died for the french sake in the WWII.They trying to neglect the past.

The consequence long after the war will be catastrophe. There is no doubt about that. The islamic world from the philipines to morocco will rise once again.Evereybody is aware with their fundamentalist behaviour.

Rajunpl,
Before you making any comment like American and British soldiers died for them in WWII, I would like you to go back and check your history knowledge again. It was France that help America to gain it's freedom from British. French helped them to revolt against and British and and become a free nation. If France hadn't helped the Americans, they would be singing "God Save The Queeen," right now.
I am just sick and tired of the way Bush is driving America and the whole world towards.
Devil's advocate Posted on 18-Mar-03 12:16 PM

I am not at all intrested in the above topics but what i want to say is whenever a bible waving republican is at the white house, why do we have wars?Is it that jhyang(a.k.s. Bush) is out to prove the world that he is a good christian,so it is his responsibility to get rid of evil. The Americans as well as the world don't have the right picture of what Iraq and Saddam Hussain is all about, and what we know is what CNN yells. Are we getting the right information?I doubt it.CNN is a news channel who gave more priority to the death of Princess Diana than to the death of Mother Teresa(Remeber they died around the same time),and last month it was yelling too much about the Columbia shuttle crash as if that was the end of mankind.Who cares if children die in Afghanistan? There is nothing glamorous abt Afghanistan. And we the people,we get so glued to this fabricated news..it's disgusting.
Americans..they have this too much liberty to speak their mind.Freedom of speech to be precise. And how do they use it?Eminem raps how bitchy his mom was(no wonder it was a great hit, americans love free speech),some other rapper shows his fundamental right of speech by rapping how he would seduce a woman, and some jackass yells at times square proudly that he is a gay(i've nothing against gays). So this is how americans are using their freedom of speech.
No wonder america is a country where"People" magazine is a huge hit.It has breaking news such as "George Clooney was in London and he gave 20 bucks to a beggar" or "peple spotted britney smoking in arizona".What the F**k?As we have nothing else to read.So what if u don't give a damn,it is a bestselling mag is the states.
Prime time ma Joe millionare and all that shit auncha telivision coz americans love reality shows and they get to choose a bride or a groom on these reality shows(not joe millionare hai).
After readin what i have written above i felt holy cow!why do i have such venom against America.I don't even live there, but i found the answer,i am against imperialism,i may sound like a fool while saying this but i am against the corporate world.Beleive me if Coca Cola makes a move it can throw Bush out of power in 24 hours, see the power of the corporate giants.Ok guys this is my two penny, love me or hate me i'd still say my middle finger to you UNITED TERRORIST OF AMERICA.
p.s. hey guys, did u notice wat bush said to the iraqi ppl on that fu*king speech "plz don't destroy the oil wells".Bastard.Chow

Isolated freak , your article was interesting. however , how can you blame any one individual aka powell, when a whole nation is declaring war? feri worse , in a way this article is saying "bush is an idiot , and he's only actign on the advice of others aka powell" ki hoina? kasari only euta lai blame garni , when this seems to be a collective decision , hoina? ki hoina?
