currently i am out of status. i will be getting married to a US citizen next week. I have all the forms downloaded from the internet. there are 2 things i am not sure about. first, is there anywhere in NYC I can get a free medical check up etc, or at least very cheap? (no insurance) second, do I need a lawyer , or can i just fill the forms and hand it in by myself? I hear about people having lawyers all the time, but i dont know why exaclty. is there a place in NYC where i can get free legal help for this purpose. ( i am aware of those places that say first consultation free, that is only a marketing scheme to make you come back and pay). therefore i am looking for a free service in all. if there is no free, is there dirt cheap? please let me know. thanks in advance. |

Hi Bhimsengola, I know what you are going through. Things are pretty confusing, you may want to read my thread "just got married". I think lawyer is a must, according to many people (dont ask me why, i dont know why i cant just fill forms myself). About free doctor , why dont you get medical insurance? Just pay the first month and get all your check ups then quit? About lawyer call the number khim gave you. you should get the free consultations , maybe if you get it from 5 different places, that would be 5 hours of free consultation you know what i mean? Money is the key i guess, spend now, save later you know? |
