I want to apply for legalization now, but am scared they will take me back to Nepal after they find out that I am illegal here for over 12 months now!!! i am also working part time as an independant contractor in a non-profit for disabled, i should not be working. i dont want to be sent back, i really need all you expert advise. please help. even a few words. what is the risk of me gettign sent back, charged, or living as an illegal for the rest of my life? i am sick of this all, i would be working as a 40,000/annum job if it werent for being damn illegal!!! ke garne khai ? Im just too scared specially because of the special registration for people from our part of the world. |

why are u living here if you are illegal. you should have gone nepal before being illegal. thats not good. if you were in love with an american guy, it would have been easier for you to get married and come here. by the way way why you want to stay here. you can take your bf with you back in nepal enjoy life there and make your greencard and come here. you can live in both countries. or it is also like just for the sake of greencard like many people want to do here. |

Nanimaiya: congratulations and good luck. You have nothing to fear but fear itself. An immigration lawyer will NOT report you as an illegal alien and drag you, kicking and screaming, to the nearest detention center. Please do not be afraid . It is NOT their responsibility to enforce INS diktat. They are around to provide a service to help you navigate the forest of rules. Use a reputed Indian immigration lawyer to deal with your case and they will guide you through the process. Some of them provide abut 30 mins of free consultation on your first visit, so go well prepared with all your questions written down. Most Indian stores have a free Indian newspaper or newsletter published locally that will list ads for immigration lawyers. Make a few calls and speak to a few of them before you settle on one to handle your case. Nadaraunu, mutu dhuk dhuk bhaye pani lawyer kahan ta janai parcha, darayera hundaina. |

Poonte and Czar ji, thanks for the advise. i navigated the site for the INS. basically i have to submit a few forms, and a medical evaluation, and tons of money (i am a waitress ). I guess a lawyer is a must for me , because i was out of status or so, for an entire year! In terms of forms and everything else, i think i understand them and can fill them out without a problem, why and what role does this lawyer play? Czar, dar ta lagi halcha ni law break gare pachi. sometimes, i think laws are formed just so that the powerful can contain the masses in a orderly fashion. its either "you follow me, or youre screwed" ,....!! unfortunately to live in this society you need to folllow law, otherwise you're gonna be serving buds and wings all your life! khimu, gajab naam re? dhanyabad hai. i think sajha ma dherai manche haru come up with really gajab nams ki kaso? aba dherai pir garna chandchu ke, i;m gonna have a bottle of red and celebrate. thanks |

first of all congratulation, you should not be worried being illegal as far as you pay the dam tax.second find a lawyer asap.i have the same case my case is going smooth i have my work permit now, my interview is commming soon. make sure you don't get one of those jack ass indian or nepali lawyers who don't know jack.get a good lawer.you said you married with a nepali american does he have a citizenship or he just has a green card .if he has a green card there is no way you are gonna get green card.the person has to be a us citizen ,naturalized citizen or a american born citizen it doesn't matter. if he has a green card wait till file for a citizenship and then you are ok .thank you |

So that was your primary intention of getting married to an American and realizing what Jim Morrison called American Dreams, and you don't want to go the place where your roots belong.Kudos lady....that is exactly what you should do.As for now you have acheived what you dreamt before coming to America,i wouldn't mind saying congratulation. This is the only thing your family friend and the community expected. You made all of us Nepali proud.wah..wah. |

i agree devil's advocate. why we most of nepalese people who come here think about getting green card by hook or cook rather than concentrating on what we really come here for? I think most of us come here as a student so why could nt we study hard and make nepal proud rather thinking about green card? this things really sucks. i used to hear about nepalese boys and girls doing so well in usa from neighbours and frens while i was in Nepal but after coming here i found totally different and reality is really different. i still can not understand why everyone is after green card? do our parents expect that from us? do our parents really accepts us from thier heart of our marriage with foreigners? i dont know, may be 5-10 % do. can not we think more than just marrying american citizen or green card holder and geting green card after marrying him/her? well how can we dream about better nepal if we, young generation can not think more than just green card? |

You think getting married after 5 years of being together was a whole "scam" or something I designed in order to get a green card? Cmon I could have done this years ago.... Having a gc is no easy way out. You still have to pay rent, you still have to work , you still have to pay all the bills etc. For a student, its better, because you can get a loan, but you still have to pay that loan back, no? The best thing would be travelling back to Nepal without being harrased by every white dude who questions your intentions a million times. Puh lease do not tell me that its easy to travel with a Nepali passport.THERE IS RACIAL PROFILING. u cant drive from buffalo to michigan without getting a visa first to canada!! But i am sorry, you are all wrong about my intentions. However, GC is no gateway to heaven, it does facilitate life to a certain degree. there is no doubt about that. unless youre in some kind of denial. they call me an ALIEN here..... |

well i did not said anything to a particular person. i was just saying in general, may be your case is different, i dont know. well if you think like that and if you are hearing like calling alien then why dont you go back nepal and live prestigious life in own country. well even if you get gc i dont think people here treat differently, you will still be 2nd class citizen after getting citizenship. so why are u trying to sticking up here though you know here is lot of discrimination. i dont think people will harras you in nepal. |

if you go see a lawyer...the lawyer can not legally report you to the ins. If he/she does he/she will loose the license to practice. |
