Very interesting point. The problem is not that we Nepalese don't care about the problem in our neck of the woods. The problem is that Saddam Hussein and his great works (whether it is true or not) are on air 24/7 through some of the most recognized (doubt that they are the most depended) news channels (includes tv, radio, newspaper, e-news etc). Whereas, Jigme Singhe's news can be seen in the editorials of some of the very local Nepali newspapers. Furthermore, Nepali journalism has not fostered over the years as it should have been in establishing itself as a dependable source. Therefore, Nepali public usually don't feel the actual impact of the situation through Nepali journalism. Especially for the people out of the country, the sources of news are very limited. My point is, it is not who has done better job or worse job, or whether we care or do not care, it is what catches our attention and what is sustained in our minds. And media plays the biggest impact in taday's world. I think that is why CNNs, HBOs, ESPNs and MTVs are all over the world; to market and establish certain culture.
