Ujl, You seem some kind apologetic about Hinduism. Why foreigners should be allowed to enter the temple? What is the point? It is the culture originated for some reason in the past which i have no idea. Hinduism is dynamic religion (not sure we can say it as religion) and it will change itself. There is no such thing as Vedic religion. Vedas are collection of philosophical books written by seers who might have touched to the quantum state of the mind and there is no point to conform those books as epitome of truth. The best thing in Hinduism is it has no rules and regulations. Basic tenets common among all the Hindus is the idea of Karma which includes reincarnation, which basically means god is useless, and you determine your future, whether it be immediate or distant. A hindu is a hindu because he is not muslim or crystian or Jew. There is no other definition and i think it is the most beautiful asset we hindus have.

@ paradox.....Hinduism is a much later invention. Before that, there existed Vedic age. During Vedic age people strictly followed Vedas. The present modern Hinduism is an aberration of Vedic Religion. Hinduism doesn't much care about Vedas but focus more on Purans, Bhagawat Gita, Ramayana etc. During Vedic age, people were much interested in actual scientific Yagyas which is now extinct. Present modern Hindu priest doesn't even know how to do all these intricate Yagyas with scientific accuracy. Modern Hindu Jyotish are a big JOKE! Vedic Jyotish were established in the transcendental awareness and could tell the past, present, and future with accuracy. And what do mean by Hinduism doesn't have rules and regulations? Hinduism is full of non-sense rituals. Rigid caste system is present in Hinduism. Hindu people don't allow the so called "dalits" to touch their water. They prevent foreigners from entering temples. Women during their menstrual cycles are not allowed to go into the kitchen. Women have less freedom and are treated as second class citizens in Hinduism. These are rules that are part of modern day Hinduism. Hinduism has become so rigid that society is suffocating from this barbaric culture. Vedic Religion, on the other hand, is the religion of Atma: pure transcendental awareness within every single atom.

Magorkhe is right. Term Hinduism was coined during british raj. There is nothing as caste system (untouchables bla bla..) in any hindu/vedic text. It's some sly pundits/rulers who misused this concept. Remember, person does not become a caste by his birth, it's his deeds that make him such. For example, rishi biswamitra was a kshetriya king, rishi byas was from very low caste. To state the reality in harsher words, hinduism is defiled by brahmins. They ousted huge chunk of population from education labeling them as lower caste. They became middlemen between the god and a devout. Kshetriyas/ rajputs died to save hinduism from invaders but brahmins got all the fruits......LOL!! (I am not being a racist here, just pointing out a fact)

Al Qaeda calls Islam practiced everywhere as not real, pure. Al Qaeda calls themselves the true Muslims. Is the Vedic Religion vs Hinduism something like this? Practitioners of Vedic religion is Al Qaeda and all Hindus today as fake and corrupt?

The Rig-Veda for some reason seems to have given much greater stature to the god of heaven - Indra, the god of fire - Agni, and the god of intoxication - Soma. It is possible that authors of the Rig Veda might have been preoccupied with thoughts of after-life. For sustaining life in this world they might have been almost as much preoccupied with thoughts of fire (to cook food) or in other words hunger. And, of course partying or getting intoxicated.
