I just got accepted into Bioinformatics PhD program at OSU. However, I also have an option to continue my grad program research on viral evolution at my current institution (fairly good university). Given the two options I have have rt now, I am bit confused whether I should pursue my PhD in bioinformatics or virology. Due to the hype(over-hype), I am not sure if this field is going be one of the very few lucrative fields in biological science. Since I am planning to work in Nepal after my PhD, I think virology will be more beneficial for my career and I am little reluctant to jump into bioinformatics, but I am equally interested in computer programmings..are there any bioinformaticians/computational biologists in sajha who could help me come up with the right decision. Where is bioinformatics going to go in next 10 /15 years??Is it already in decline?? Experts input would be appreciated. My previous post somehow got deleted, so posting it again.. Thanks
