Did some hit you and run? Where have you parked the car? Or it happened on streets? You mean it was hit and run in the parking lot? It seems like you just have a liability insurance, so you need to find the other driver or his tag number. Did you file the police report?

if you dont have a comprehensive insurance , insurence wont pay you . lot owner is not responsible as its park your own risk . its pretty much 'thats it". if you dont have full coverage, I assume its a pretty old car . sorry for the loss but its time for new one

It's not that old. 6 yrs. Police and ambulance showed up but yeah, the other driver fled and the vehicle got towed to a repair shop that's tied to local PD.

If no one got injured and it was just property damaged to your car- it’s over. Do you think there is cammera around ? CCTV footage? Where you inside the car while it all happened. Is there any injury? If we able to track the driver and we have proof, we can file hit and run case. Since it’s criminal case, the owner of the lot should furnish all evidences if you have a court order.

Some years ago my car was totaled by a car driven by a drunk driver. I did not have full insurance, only liabilities, so my insurance company of course would not pay for the value of the car. But, his insurance company paid the full amount for the value of the car at that time.

@Money 2go don’t lose hope yet. If we can pull the tag or get any info on driver their insurance would fix your car. Also you could directly sue the driver with the help of attorney. You will sit down with a lawyer to assessed the damages and injuries and go from there. I was a victim of hit and run too. I kinda visited body shops around to see if any car showed up with the damages in last 2 weeks- it’s doable if you live in a small city. I never could find though. My rates never went up because they forgave the accident since it was not my fault. @Sexy in Haku Patasi not sure how long you been driving. The insurance rates depend upon the states, city, crime, tax rate, drivers history, traffic violations, DUI, frequent offenders and so on..:. I highly doubt every driver could upgrade to Full coverage paying 20 bucks more. Sometime if the car is older than 10 years it’s not even worth to do full coverage, however always high deductible could be options if one is driving Luxury cars. In our OP’s case his car was 6 years old, may be he just paid it a year ago or bought in cash, and definitely took risk on insurance part

Ramkumar pasa : I been driving past 6 years in the us and I pay less than 140 for full coverage . Ideally there is nothing called a full coverage in insurance term but when someone say full coverage its at least comprehensive insurance which is usually 20 bucks higher than just liability insurance in most cities . If you are just covering limited liabilities , you should be aware of future consequences unlike this money2go guy .

Haha! I been driving for 16-17 years too, but accidents are not usually happen that we could learn learn it all. Every accident is different and the way you respond is different. I had another case when a person hit me, he was not insured- lies by insurance company. I was told by the insurance company that they did not have coverage same day they hit my car. It was little older car. So my insurance would give half for damages and other insurance would pay half for my car- as per my insurance agent. The other party insurance call me saying they won’t pay a dime. So I tracked the driver through the police report and threaten to take to small claims court. Viola! The next day their insurance company called me saying they would split the cost. You need to know how to deal with them. Even your insurance company is not your friend. Trust me they make deal every days, there billions of transactions happened between them everyday. If it’s less than 5K, you can’t hire a lawyer since 3-4 K gone in a lawyer fee if you don’t have significant damages. @money2go in this case you have be your own private investigator. Ask if anyone have CCTV, you were talking about a parking lot. Cops don’t give a shit about it. Just saying. Learn from it, it’s better to have a full coverage for 6 years old car. I agree @ sexy. Just because u been driving for 16 does not mean you know it all.

money2go, may be you used to drive tractor for 18 years in Nepal otherwise you would definitely have a comprehensive incurrence. friendly suggestion , if you cant afford comprehensive insurance, ride a bus or train because you are putting others property in risk as well .

Exactly ramkumar pasa , such irresponsible person should not be in driver's seat . It's good that his car got totaled otherwise he would have done some serious damage to other drivers . Idiot says been 19 years in driving n knows nothing about how to handle hit n run case. Neither knows anything about comprehensive insurance.
