On a side note, As mentioned in EO - https://www.whitehouse.gov/pre... children born from citizen or GC holders will be the only ones who will be eligible for citizenship. Below is an excerpt from the link above: ... Among the categories of individuals born in the United States and not subject to the jurisdiction thereof, the privilege of United States citizenship does not automatically extend to persons born in the United States: (1) when that person’s mother was unlawfully present in the United States and the father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth, or (2) when that person’s mother’s presence in the United States at the time of said person’s birth was lawful but temporary (such as, but not limited to, visiting the United States under the auspices of the Visa Waiver Program or visiting on a student, work, or tourist visa) and the father was not a United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth. Not sure if the retrospective actions will be taken (also how far they are going back). Technically at the time of birth of her child, if she or her husband is/was neither a US citizen nor a GC holder then the child cant be a US citizen. Also if a president can issue such EO order now - I guess this can be rescinded by the next president.

The EO specifically says it is not retroactive. It only applies to babies born after Feb 19th. One of the administration official verified as well. Laws cannot be applied retroactively.

Here is the section that says that (b) Subsection (a) of this section shall apply only to persons who are born within the United States after 30 days from the date of this order.
