It depends on your univ. policy. Some univs do allow participating in graduation with 3-6 credits left behind. So the best is to talk to the graduate administration office.

no, you can't unless you pass all the classes you require. If you fail that class you may take it (only that class) next semester and graduate as i suppose you haven't used your reduced course load. If you had already then you need to go for full time class next semester also to maintain your status. And if you have applied for opt you can start working and take the class side by side. complicated, right? So try to convince your professor and get at least the passing grade. jhyamma is right. Some universities will allow you to walk right now and complete the requirement next semester. Only your adviser or graduation office personnel will be able to answer that question for sure. Some issues to consider(like youwanpras said) 1) Did you take a reduced course-load this semester 2) Did you already apply for OPT (do you have a OPT job lined-up)? If you haven't applied for OPT, don't have a  job lined-up and didn't take reduced coursework this semester, try to convince your adviser to let you walk this semester and then next semester just take a reduced course work and look for job. Thank you all for your responses, I haven't applied for OPT and I haven't taken a reduced course-load till now. Suppose, if they let to walk and allow me to take a class next semester then what you guys think, will I be able to apply for OPT after completing that class??? Thank you!

@napa-- Ya, you will be able to apply for OPT after completing that class(well...you don't have to complete the class to apply). Just get the permission to take a reduced class-work next semester. Hope it all works out for you. Last edited: 30-Mar-10 06:35 PM

napa , simple study hard, ask teacher for some extra credit papers. Explain ur situation, and ask him for help. go to his office everyday, put everything u got, remember this is ur last semester. Give it a last push, i know u can do it, believe ur self, don't you. Trust me, teachers do help, if ur about to graduate. I had the same scenario, i did everything i got, and teacher new about it. Final exam didn't go well, i thought i'm done, but teacher emailed me ask for extra paper, i did it, guess what , i got 'C', done from school, found a good job, settled. Remember if u work hard there is always a solution, trust me, there is a plenty of job out there, only losers cry about it. So good luck, hope u will listen to urself.
