I bought a car yesterday. Toaday when I went to register it, DMV said that title cannot be transformed because of lien holders. When I was buying the car, when I aksed about lien holders name in title, seller told me that lien is paid off thats why she has title. Otherwise dealer will keep the title. Now she is not picking up phone and she is at 2 hrs distance. Is there any way I can know whether the lien is paid off or not? Can it be checked in car history? If it can be, the car vin is 1C3EL46U21N647507. Its a 2001 chrysler sebring. Thanks a lot

Is the title original? If not, then you are screwed. I have heard about the duplicate title scam before. God forbid if you are are the victim.
