Dear Sajha Users: While filing the tax return, I got American Opportunity Tax Credit ($1000) on my graduate study. After graduation, now I am applying for green card. I need to submit tax return documents to USCIS. Now I heard the credit is only applied to undergrad. Therefore, I am seeking serious remedies. Suggestions are highly appreciated to be on safe side. yes it's only for first 4 yr of undergrad..also if u were on f1 u were not supposed to claim it...

There is a penalty you will have to pay to uscis depending upon interview officer ( that's what my friend was asked to do for working without permit back then). I don't know if this helps or the matter is similar..
