I have no clue about that my group always filed as resident from the very beginning.
Did you file free or paid for Turbo-tax? Federal is free and state is as low as 9.99 - 14.95 ( taxact.com).

futyakarma is right. I did filed tax 1040EZ for last several years. I also got my H1B. Therefore, no issue and no problem. File your tax this year also and enjoy the returns..

You don't need to worry about it. USCIS doesn't do tax check with IRS. As long you are clean (no serious crimes), nobody is going ask you how you filed your tax. Enjoy!!
