If one would say, walking through American campuses is basically flipping through pages of fashion magazines. , then it would not be much exaggeration. Many of us who are newcomers to such fashion trends might find these styles entertaining in the very beginning. Tanned bodies wandering to classes with an overwhelming outfit of short skirt and tiny tank tops, or those with khaki shorts and flip-flops. Who would not love those slender tanned figure and those males in khaki shorts? I did too. I was one of those outlier who was still in my Nepali cotton pant and long sleeve shirt with a leather shoes on a hot summer day. I often used to spend my leisure time watching tanned and toned bodies talking on their cell phones, or strolling around campus hoping to change myself according to their fashions and styles.
Was I hoping to change my identity when I first received my visa or even when I first landed in the American soil at Losangles some few years ago? Definitely Not&. There was excitement, new aspirations to be able to study in one of the colleges of The United States. I was proud of myself. Did those aspirations to study vanish away with those HOT styles and with bottles of BUDWEISER ? I did change indeed after hanging out with my so-called BUDDIES or DAWGS in one of those popular college bars and clubs in town. Bullwinkles, sloppy Joes , Chubbys, the Irish pub-You name it. I have probably been there at least once. I got busy planting fake seeds of love among tanned blondes instead of concentrating on my studies, which was the sole purpose of my coming to United States. American Eagle, Abercrombie and Fitch sure helped me in changing my identity, but would it make my life any better? Would it help me in achieving my sole purpose of coming to United States? If any of you are still wondering how to change yourself to cope up with the new environment, consider Abercrombie-a safe bet. But, I would recommend your original style in attempts to change the environment just a little bit.

my few words guys, is that the few of us who are in the usa working/studying/whatever...we have to contribute to spreading the culture of our two countries...nepal and india..we have too many commanalities...nepal was support indians, vice-versa...over here, a little contribution to the society...the various american communities...can lead to ppl visiting our countries. they will spend atleast $3000 in our borders, thats foreign currency coming in...that will benefit the service ppl, poor ppl, and all in nepal.
I think that the last picture in "Chicago 2060 NEW! Celebration Pictures" should be removed. Its not very nice to look at and seems more like an assault on the eye and is disrepectful to people browsing this website. My name is Prem S. Thapa and I am a Ph.D student at Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma, USA. Last year my passport expired, and as per the rules, I applied for a new passport with all the documents, together with $80.00. Strangely enough, when I called Nepalese Embassy, one of the representatives, Mr. Tamang told me that they had received everything except the money order. He convinced me that it was missing and rightly so, I went to United States Postal Service USPS and explained them the situation. They advised me if the money is not withdrawn in 3 months, then only they will refund me the money and make another money order. Since I was in hurry, I sent Embassy another money order and got my passport back.
In the meantime, after 3 months, USPS returned my $80.00 since the money was not withdrawn. Everything went fine for a year, then all of a sudden, I got the letter for USPS saying the money order of $80.00 the one I had sent earlier was withdrawn and is deposited to Embassy's account. I was surprised and this time when I called, Mr. Tamang, along with Mr. Adhikari started shouting at me saying nobody has done that and the money was never withdrawn. I felt something was cooking and talked to USPS about it. Since they were the one who had to pay $80.00 since they had already refunded me , they said this process has been going for a long. Embassy usually keeps the money order for a year and then draws the money. Since by that time, most of the Nepalese move to different location USPS can not track them down and has to pay the money.
Its becoming a big racket. USPS advised me to ask a letter from Embassy saying they never received/withdrawn the money. USPS advisor told me that after that, it wouldnt be my problem; USPS would deal with the Embassy directly. I was going to call Embassy when I met one of the graduates from Oklahoma State University, Mr. Rajendra Shrestha who has moved to Houston, TX. He told me that he also got the same response Lost money order and good shouting from Mr. Tamang & Mr. Adhikari . I was shocked to see the status of Nepalese Embassy. Being an organization, representing Nepal, they are giving everyone a bad name, and to top it all, they are depositing the money in Embassy's name and then taking it out. My heart ponders who else is involved, as they finally need to take out the money from Embassy's account.
I finally called Mr. Tamang and politely asked him to send me a letter since USPS needs it. God, his tone changed drastically. "May be somebody accidentally deposited the money. Why you want to involve USPS and give Embassy a bad name." He begged and begged. Trust me he was sounding like a housedog. I finally gave up and he sent me the money order of $80.00 back.
Though I received my money back, there must be 100's or even 1000's who might have been hit by this low-level act of few Nepalese in the Embassy namely Mr. Tamang and Mr. Adhikari may be others who knows . I want the editor to make all the Nepalese living here in USA aware that this process is happening and if ever they get the answer "We never received the money order", from Embassy, they should ask a letter and let USPS handle everything.
