Thank you for implementing a feature requested earlier so quickly...I think usergroup postings are more visible now..
Sajha.com has potential to become ultimate Nepali portal site for Nepalis and friends of Nepal...As it grows in this direction, I would like to suggest to add another feature/activity similar to the one found on most portals sites..
How about conducting scheduled chat sessions on the chat room featuring professionals of Nepali origin in various fields..i.e movie, music, language, literature, computer etc.
I know this will require more effort in coordination. If you could handle the technical part, may be one of us could volunteer to coordinate this..
San, I think you have way too many specific topics in the Usergroups section. I would suggest a few broad categories such as Education, Entertainment, Health, Business, etc. Otherwise some of the topics will fizzle out and no longer be used, eg Depression, Cooking, etc.
San: I am having trouble logging into the chat room. After I sign in my nick name the whole thing just stalls, no twirling aol icon. Please advise. Thanks.
San, maybe there should be some sort of recognition for the person who happens to become the 1,000,000th visitor on your site. Looking at that number on the bottom of the screen, that is not too far away.
Is it possible to make the new messages posted on the usergroup forums also appear on the front page along with the messages of kurakani forum.
I think this will help users who are interested in multiple usergroup forms and also provide more visibility to the message posted on the usergroup forums.
Hi JDV, Even if you visit the site 5 times you will be counted only once. This came to me as a pleasant surprise to me as well. I feel honored that so many visitors feel that this site is worthy of their continued visits.
As always do feel free to send me any suggestions/feedback on the site.
'unique' as in even if I log on 5 times a day I'm only counted once? if that's the case, I'm speechless!! who'd have thought so many people logged on? I'd say it speaks VOLUMES about the great work you're doing here!
Hey JDV, I used to show number of users online. Which was basically number of people who accessed the site in the last 15 minutes. This was not a great measurement in terms of the actual viewership of the site. So I have changes that number to show the number of unique visitors in the last 24 hours.
I noticed that the tally of visitors has taken a drastic upswing. Is it correct?? It’s 9:50 a.m. right now and the tally says ‘319 visitors today’. I know Sajha is very popular but how’d we jump from the usual 40 or so visitors a day yes, I know this fluctuates and it’s been higher on certain days, but lately it’s been more like 8 / 9 visitors a day if one’s to believe the tally to 319 visitors? And it’s only 9:50 a.m.!!
First, could you look into ways of making the kurakani ko search process much easier?
Perhaps you might want to put a section, simply called "search kurakani" right on the opening page IN ADDITION TO the existing "search by date" function which, BTW, does NOT seem to work .
Second, how about having MORE Kurakani headings displayed right on the opening page rather than we currently have? There seems to be a lot of space near that 'evil professor' section, the space which could be used to make to increase the number of instantly-visible kurakani topics.
Your registration is based on your email so if you want to change your email you will have to send an email request from the current email requesting that the email address be changed to the new email. Thanks San
hi there seem to be browser compatibility issues on the sajha.com site
im using mozilla build 9.2, and the menu part seems to obscure the whole page, it extends beyond the left side to cover the whole screen and you cant see any other content
maybe its just an issue w/mozilla and that particular build, but i'd guess that you might get the same kind of problem w/netscape 6.0 and above
i think the latest mozilla build was based off navigatior 6.0
San: This is what it said when I tried to see the rest of the thread in Kurakani. Thanks anepalikt ----------- Error Occurred While Processing Request Error Diagnostic Information
An error occurred while evaluating the expression:
client.news eq 'showreg'
Error near line 51, column 403. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Error resolving parameter CLIENT.NEWS
The client variable NEWS does not exist. The cause of this error is very likely one of the following things:
The name of the client variable has been misspelled. The client variable has not yet been created or has timed out. To set default values for client variables you should use the CFPARAM tag e.g.
The error occurred while processing an element with a general identifier of CFIF , occupying document position 51:386 to 51:416 in the template file D:\SITES\GBNC\FORUM\CFM\OPENFORUM.CFM.
I don't like this typeface at all. why did you change? My eyes hurt. Do you want to pay for my glasses? Seriously, the previous one was better. If you don't believe me then take a vote.
I just wanted to find out why the GBNC doesn't have any Basketball Tournaments. You guys have soccer tournaments but why not basketball. I came to the states as a young child and I've grown to love basketball and football. I really am not that good in soccer so I am just suggesting for you guys to organize a basketball tournament if possible.I am currently in Sommerville High scholl in my senior years and I also can gather lots of people to joing this organization. So thanks, and I hope you consider my idea.
I tuned in today after a fairly long time and ran into the open/registered kurukani issue ... It's sad that you have to create such a way of dealing with these issues, but it's probably the best option.
My two cents: as someone with limited time, and limited tolerance for the extreme immaturity that sometimes gets onto this site and which will probably be dealt with by the open/registered kurukani solution , I think it would be useful for the "refresh screen" option to return the viewer to whichever place s/he was at. Eg, if I'm in Registered Kurukani, I noticed today that it sends me to Open Kurukani. Which a doesn't make sense, and b is kind of a time waster.
Another suggestion: If someone is new to the site, I think they'll be confused by the two options. Maybe you should have an explanation, somewhere in the header, of what those options are all about?
San, I would like to ask if you have the contact info for a couple of old friends of mine who are/were in the Boston area. How can I ask this info from you on a less public forum?
In light of the tasteless articles being posted in Kurakani, I have the following suggestion: Again, some of the people or likely ONE guy posting them will argue that I am against their cause supposedly --> anti-pedophilia , but this is not so. I could ignore the many perverted thread titles, but they are just too glaring. Anyway, this is just a suggestion.
Perhaps we can require people to register, and you send them their passwords to their e-mail address. Then they can still be anonymous when posting, but if they start abusing the site, then their access can be blocked and they will not be allowed to re-register through that e-mail address. I don't think responsible posters will have problem with Arnico's suggestion.
I personally like this site a lot, but the directly defamatory accusations are wearing me down. It is one thing to bring up the issues, but the language and sensationalism is getting perverted, with titles like the "anti-toori tan campaign" etc. I mean come on, this is hilarious, but maybe for 2 seconds. We need to have a grown-up section of Kurakani.
Hi Riza, Thanks for asking me though it was not the one i was expecting.I am not clear about what do u want to know.Let me put some questions.Do u want to stay in NY or u want to return NEP?
