HOR declares Nepal “untouchability free†country In yet another major announcement, the reinstated House of Representatives on Sunday unanimously endorsed a proposal to declare Nepal a country “free of untouchability and all kinds of discrimination.†The legal and constitutional status of the proposal, however, remains unclear. Moving a proposal of “urgent public importance,†a lawmaker of the CPN (UML), Parshuram Neghi Gurung, called on so-called dalit community—that constitutes 16 percent of the country’s 27 million population—in all processes of making new constitution and ending all sorts of discriminatory policies and practices including so-called untouchability. The proposal calls for mobilization of special economic programme for education, health and employment for dalits and those under the absolute poverty line to their status. The constitution of the kingdom of Nepal 1990 prohibits all types of discrimination against citizens on the basis of caste, gender or religion. But activists said a number of discriminatory provisions and laws were still in practice. Addressing the House session on Sunday, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Narendra Bikram Nemwang said untouchability was a social crime and that the government would introduce a new bill soon to make necessary amendments in the existing Act. Earlier, the House of Representatives has already declared Nepal a secular state and asked the government to formulate laws so as to issue citizenship certificated to children in the name of their mother. Earlier, the certificate could be issued in the name of father only.

I am repeating my version from Nepalnews forum: If people are educated, they might be able to respect each other and not descriminate on the basis of caste or religion. If HOR declares something, that cannot be forced into people's hearts and minds because they will still be illeterate. In my opinion, declaring Nepal as a secular state is crap ! No matter how much ppl disagree or even agree with, it won't improve Nepal's existing condition but make it worse. People won't stop descriminating, infact, this declaration might arose feeling to discriminate even more. laws and declarations are just someone else's idea that they want you to comply with. However, if you free your mind and try to look at the bigger picture....you'll find out tht you can't even change yourself or your opinion( forget about changing others) without educating yourself! My point , as some folks have stated, is that educate yourself and others. And please don't try to strangle ppl who have opposing views, they are just views and they can't even do anything about it but post it on the forum. Peace.

In Nepal.... Newari people created a caste system not chettri Bahuns. They blamed to us. Newari people are communal and unsocial people not Chettri Bahuns. They are the one who are racists and discriminators. They only talk their Newari language infront of all Nepalese people. They do only Newari groupism and they ignore other Nepalese. They are backward people of Nepal not Bahuns and Chettris. Thanks...

Spiritual: This blue planet of the cosmos probably has never been in such a nicest state before. We have enough food for many, nice shelters and abundant clothing. Human rights, cooperation, skillful use of material and so many other things separate present civilization from the past ones. Besides abundant wealth and luxurious lifestyle, we are as poor as the past civilizations in case of happiness; even poorer. I am not baselessly claiming this. Read this latest discovery of psychologists: BBC Science/nature: Britain is less happy than in the 1950s - despite the fact that we are three times richer. What the happiness research suggests is that once average incomes reach about £10,000 a year, extra money does not make a country any happier. Click here ---Happiness formula! Rich means more you use the natural resources; it doesn’t mean that you are happier. BBC Science Nature: People can live long, happy lives without consuming large amounts of the Earth's resources, a survey suggests. The 178-nation "Happy Planet Index" lists the south Pacific island of Vanuatu as the happiest nation on the planet, while the UK is ranked 108th. Click here to read more! In conclusion, if you don’t have basic needs, you are in psychological torture; ie you are in misery. However, if you have basic needs and you want more to increase your happiness; it’s just insanity. Wealth doesn’t bring happiness. It seems ancient Hindus new this fact, that’s why they have established a unique culture of renunciation. Instead of building Pyramids like monuments, the ancient Hindu kings used to build Daansala from where they used to donate their wealth with infinite sympathetic joy. contd...

Contd... I am so impressed by the selfless donation of mythical king विश्वन्तर that I took his name as my user name in साझा. He was exiled by his people when he donated the white elephant (मंगल हात्ति) to another State. White elephant was considered to be a sign of all fortune. Then in exile he donated his Son जालिकुमार and daughter कृष्णजिनि and finally donated his wife शुभद्रा. Let’s not argue about justice and injustice of donating family members. That was very different society and all of his family members were so beloved to him. They immensely loved him back too, that’s why they didn’t revolt but fulfilled his words. The moral of the story is the sacrifice of beloved things. You need really big heart to sacrifice your things; more beloved, more you get attached and more difficult to sacrifice. One of the most difficult sacrifices is to donate ones own kids. At the time of Buddha, there was a rich man called शुदत्त। He was feeding 500 helpless people every day in his house. Since he was giving food to helpless he was known as अनाथपिण्डक (अनाथ = helpless पिण्ड = food). Many such mythological stories and many real stories give us some idea about that ancient Hindu society. The society had established a real value of “renunciation”. There are many stories in Hundism/Buddhism that kings renounced their kingdom and lived in a hut in jungle as a recluse. Of course Siddhartha Gautam was a real example. Same is true for the people of all part of the society despite their livelihood, color, caste, class and position. Abandoning possession and living a life of recluse is a real and unique Hindu tradition. You can not find this tradition in any other civilization in the earth. Once, renunciation was made compulsory in society, the life was divided into four stages. व्रम्हचार्य (study period), गृहस्थ (household period), वानप्रस्थ (period of spiritual quest), सन्यास (complete renunciation from householders life and complete devotion to spiritual life). This was called आश्रम धर्म (system) and it was part of life of everyone. Today you may think that this is only for special group of people namely for बाहुन and some छेत्री. But it’s not true. It was for everyone, every single person of the society dispite his livelihood. The culture tradition was completely different. This wonderful आश्रम tradition seems didn’t last long. By the time of Buddha this unique tradition was completely ruined by some selfish people because वर्ण (color) was added on it and made it वर्णाआश्रम. Period of Buddha was a period of the greatest discrimination and pick of castism. The fossil of this आश्रम system can still be seen today, वर्तबन्ध is a ruined form of the tradition. But it is all mess and useless. I would say counterproductive. contd...

What is my point? My point is Hindus had discovered some wonderful things to proud of. I mentioned about the culture of renounciation. Here are major unanswered qeustions I am leaving for the time being. What were they doing during renounciation? What made kings to renounce their royal lavish? What has renounciation to offer over possission? What was the beauty of renounciation? What kept kings and riches renounced dispite hard life? What was the discovery of Buddha? I know this thread will not be completed until I answer these questions. I will love to do that but it is quite time consuming. I am going for summer vacation next week. Let's see how much time I get when I come back. You can not seperate Hinduism and Buddhism in real sense. It's the same Yogic tradition, Buddha is like a shining moon in the sky if other Rishis are stars (Frame of reference earth, time full moom day :)). Buddha gave completeness to the discovery. Today Indian Subcontinent is considered as a spiritual land, a land of Yogis, a land of Saints, a land of Buddhas and Arahats. Anybody in the world, who has spiritual quest and has open mind, will first think of this land. -This makes me a proud Hindu. I have personally practiced the discoveries of Hindus (you can not seperate Buddha). I got astonished from their discovery and I am very proud of this. This makes me a proud Hindu. Yogic tradition has lot to offer to human civilization. Time is coming to recognize their discovery. If you practice their discovery you will admit that they were great scientist, Unbelieveable scientist. I proud that I born in that land were these great people were born. This make me a proud Hindu. This Yogic tradition has nothing to do with caste system, God, Gods, rites and rituals, dogmas, worshiping, beliefs etc that what we call today Hinduism/Buddhism. It's a pure science, perfect science, that can be experimented and verified. Vishowntar

Sorry for the first link: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/happiness_formula/4771908.stm PleaseTry Here-Happiness Formula! Knowingly or unknowingly we all are seeking for happiness. There is no science greater than the science which gives you happiness. This was what ancient Hindus had discovered. Buddha's whole teaching is about to end the suffering; in other words, to get happiness. All I can say about it is you can taste it whether it is science or not. I have practiced Yoga Asana and I have been Practicing Pranayam. They works great for healthy life, try them, and varify them. I am a proud Hindu because of Buddha and these great Yogies not for anything else. You be proud Hindu too; but in a real sense! Everybody like their culture, tradition, religion blindly. This is true for allmost all people of the world. My pride is not of this kind. Vishowntar

SS74K Ji, knowledge is not that important; what really important is the application of the knowledge. If you are an engneer and know how to generate electricity that is good, but your knowledge is worthless until you generate electricity. Finally, I am writing something about Baburam and Prachanda......Dedicated to Karma G..........

Let’s do a thought experiment: Let’s consider Mr. G and Dr. B are sitting face-to-face to observe the letter -6- at the centre of a round table. Mr. G will see it as six where as Dr. B as nine. They will argue and argue and argue to prove what each has seen is right but they will never be able to convince each other. Why? Because they are stuck to only one point of view; they know only partial truth. Similarly, if I see Baburam and Prachanda from only one point of view I will not be able to do justice. The truth appears to me will be partial. At least two points of view, 180 0 to each other, are necessary conditions to make a sensible observation of something/someone. So, let me do that!

Point of view at 00 (Zero Degreee) We got Democracy back in 1990. People of Rukum/Rolpa didn’t know what that mean. They were completely untouched and unnoticed by King’s Panchayet and same did by GPK/SBD and MKN. King used 30 years of Panchyet to decorate Kathmandu. Now was the turn of GP to decorate Biratnagar. Here is a vivid example: Budget of Sunsari and Morang was made bigger than the budget of Far West Nepal (Seti + Mahakali). What a justice! People of Seti-Mahakali were sleeping. They didn’t know what was happening in the country. They were/are living in hell and they had believed that to live in hell was/is their destiny. Baburam and Prachanda reached to these people and told them that the later are human beings and citizens of a country called Nepal. They taught them to live in hell is not their destiny but their compulsion imposed by the political system. They educated people about the injustice and revolted them for their rights. They give them gun and said “Better die instead of living in Hellâ€. In this sense they are Messiah. Most of the people didn’t/don't know they were/are citizens of Nepal and what privilege should they get as citizens. They had/have been living thousands of year old lifestyle in 21 st century. They don’t have food for full stomach. Their kids die out of malnutrition and minor diseases. They don’t have enough cloths to protect them from cold so they die in winter. These are the people who die out of hot wind during summer because they don’t have proper roof to protect them. If their kids go to school who will go for their cattles? This is the real picture of the almost all Nepal. Prachanda and Baburam reached to these forgotten people and fought for their rights. You have to be really compassionate to fight for others at the risk of your life. In this sense they are Messiah. Nepal is not only of handfuls of privileged people. Handfuls of privileged people are not only human beings. Nobody saw the monsoon of tears of majority of Nepali other than Baburam and Prachanda. Nobody saw their empty stomach, naked body and shoeless feet other than Baburam and Prachanda. They are certainly Messiah and true leaders. Democracy is only limited inside the constitutional books. Country was/is completely in chaos. Law was/is broken by strong and rich and poor never get justice. Nepal was/is like a subtle Jungle Raaj where privileged people take advantage of everything. There are free competitions everywhere in Democracy, how do you think a poor illiterate person can compete with an advantaged person. Prachanda and Baburam were only people who noticed this unfair competition. They know what justice is! What’s wrong to raise the voice for fair compitation? Contd...

Castism has overpowered every single Nepali no matter whether uneducated or uneducated. They are the first who raised the voice against this social cancer. There are some really disadvantaged castes like untouchables, Tharus, etc, they raise voice for them. How can this be to divide people by caste? There are some disadvantaged ethnic groups like Rai, Limbu, Magar, Gurung, Tharu etc, Baburam and Prachanda raised voice for them. How can this be to divide people by Caste? There are some disadvantaged reasons like Karnali and they raised voice for them. How can this be to divide people by reason? People are indulged into unscientific so called religious practices. Baburam and Pranchanda raised voice to abandon such practices for progress. How can this be distruction of culture? Aren’t they real scientific minded leader? Army were under a person who could misuse it (history witnessed) any time. Baburam and Prachanda raised voice against it and now Army is under the people. Aren’t they visionary leader? Whatever SPA government is doing today all are all are the demands of Maoists. Can’t we say Baburam and Prachanda are genius? People get killed during revolution. No society can progress without revolution. Err is human and Baburam and Prachanda can’t be exception. Thousands got killed to show path to millions, for the justice to millions. There is no point for Baburam and Prachand to regret. Most of the innocent civilians got killed by police during the Operations Romeo and Kelo Serra-2. GP Koirala who is responsible for this is now a National hero, why we blame on Prachanda and Baburam only for the innocent death? How can, to fight for hungry stomach, be wrong? How can, to fight for miserables/pitiables, be wrong? How can, to fight for helpless, be wrong? How can, to fight for justice for powerless, be wrong? Not only these but there are so many reasons to see them as Heroes if I see them from 0 0 angle. I will observe them from 180 0 next time

180 0 IMI Ji thank you, When we got democracy in 1990 Baburam went to people with his vision. His party got less than 10 sits out of 205; even laser in the next election. He has been seen saying proudly that his party was third largest party in the cabinet; he tried through peaceful way; but it didn’t work and finally he chooses violence as a last resort. He is making fool out of people. Third largest party and less than 10 seats out of 205, how can that be a matter of pride? Why couldn’t he convince people and got 2/3 majority in the house of representative and change everything he want? After getting majority in parliament, he should have tried for change and if king or anybody else came in the way he should have gone to people. Why couldn’t he do this? He is perfectly illogical freak and making fool out of people. There was injustice in the society. Baburam and Prachanda used poison to eradicate the injustice. There is no poison greater than the violence. There are better ways to deal with injustice other than the violence. How can a wise man accept violence as a solution of injustice? I strongly believe in non-violence. Nothing is stronger than the logic; if you use violence to make your point, you can not be right. Violence can be the last resort only for fools who don’t believe in the power of logic and nonviolence. Baburam and Prachanda have violence in their mind; all they can think is through violent way. A person who crosses the threshold of violence is considered psychologically disadvantaged. Baburam and Prachanda can have some psychological problem.

It’s easy to write anything on blank paper. Baburam and Prachanda wrote violence on innocent/ignorant minds. Violent generate anger; no vioelnce no anger. Anger is a great negativity and it always makes you suffer. You can not feel happy and angry at the same time. It will take generations to erase that bloody negativity. Wait people, sick society is coming, the gift of Baburam and Prachanda! People of remote Nepal were/are ignored by governments; that was perfect injustice. Baburam and Prachanda had choice to educate them and revolt against the government non-violently. They could have done what Gandhi did and what Martin Luther did. I have seen documentary of Martin Luther. When black people came in the street, the US government ordered police to torture them. Having seen that injustice white people came to the street for the right’s of black. Quest for justice is a program which installed in the brain of every human being. Baburam and Prachanda are psychologically sick people who filled negativity in innocent/ignorant brains. I bet we would have gotten more than what we have today if they had chosen non-violence. If they went to Rukum and Rolpa and educate people to fight against the injustice non-violently. I would have saluted them. They had choice, they didn't choose non-violence over violence. They are really sick. I am very much concern about the people whose brain is poisoned with violence. They think violently, they believe violence can solve the problems. Baburam and Prachanda didn’t teach logic to the people, they taught violence. They didn’t teach justice, they taught revenge. Strength of nonviolence: Not only Gandhi and Martin Luther showed the strength of non-violence but Nepali people proved twice that the non-violence is stronger than violence. 1990’s people’s movement was also non-violent; we got democracy. 2006’s people’s movement was also non-violent, we achieved almost everything what we wanted. Think rationally, and rationally. What we got from non-violence and what we got from 10 years of violence. I accept Maoist’s contribution in this movement; however, the success of the revolution II is the great defeat of Maoist ideology. They said violence was the last resort, but they were absolutely wrong. Ten years long bloody Maoist war killed 13,000 people with almost no achievement; miracle happened in 13 days when 13 people died. If you have wit, you can think, and conclude how can war be the last choice? Maoists leaders are making fool out of you. They had done blinder mistake and are now trying to hide it with louder voice. contd....

Vishontar, After having read your posts, my conclusion is you are a man with great spiritual intelligence. Definitely you have a good philosophy to lead a life. However, your remarks on some of the political issues are somehow I think not time-appropriate and not universal. I am not much of a religious person so I dare not share any ideas on it, but I think today’s world seeks a man of intelligence and sensibility than spirituality and (I hate to say but) peace loving. Everyday, starting from the morning, you hear news of violence all over the world. CNN and BBC preach peace by saying that what the Arab terrorists are doing is violent and US and company is there in the middle-east to maintain peace while, even a dog in the street knows that they are there for oil and Israel. Now tell me who is violent, the one who preach peace or the one who is shown being violent? Nepal became a country in 1768 AD by means of violence; Ranas got the power in 1854 AD by means of violence. These two events rooted the system of feudalism in every village and corners of Nepal that you can clearly see till today. Now tell me who taught those villagers that you can obtain power by scaring people? It was just a moment of somebody throwing a matchstick in a haystack, Maoists did it. Imagine what US would be like if they hadn’t picked up guns to fight the Brits. Do you think that the western world would be as rich and developed had they not advanced their weapon technologies in the 17th and 18th centuries. Having said that, I didn’t mean to support their ideas at all but it is essential to mention this in order to prove that if you want to achieve what you deserve, you try to get it one way or the other. And in Nepal, Prachanda and Baburam started the fight not for competition or development and richness; they started for the right to fight. Gandhi, :-p, is there any other example in this world left for these so called supporter of non-violence? 400 people were killed in a single day by British army on one of those non-cooperative protest launched by him. Can I not hold him responsible for the killing of those 400 people? Had he gone Subash Chandra Bose way, India would have been definitely happier today. Our society is dog-bite-dog, people have to fight for their everyday need, you fight, bI*tch, conspire to ride the ladder of success, your rights get violated everyday and you are telling people to launch a sit and protest or hunger strike program to have it back? For me it is more important to be sensible rather than religious or spiritual and to be able to choose whether or not to use violence than go Buddha or Gandhi way. Of course religious teachings make you more sensible but sensibility is even more important because it gives you knowledge to decide the time-appropriateness of using your power.
