I think Nightcrawler is right on the money.. one easy aspect that makes it easier to identify is that the view is north south oriented, whcih is not always the case in pictures taken from space.. they may be upside down, sideways, etc depending on the trajectory of the spacecraft around the globe. Here's some more..

My vote also goes to nightcrawler for the first pic, northern part of South island and southern part of North island. The curved tip has Christchurch near it and Wellington is on the part visible on North island.
