HOR declares Nepal “untouchability free†country In yet another major announcement, the reinstated House of Representatives on Sunday unanimously endorsed a proposal to declare Nepal a country “free of untouchability and all kinds of discrimination.†The legal and constitutional status of the proposal, however, remains unclear. Moving a proposal of “urgent public importance,†a lawmaker of the CPN (UML), Parshuram Neghi Gurung, called on so-called dalit community—that constitutes 16 percent of the country’s 27 million population—in all processes of making new constitution and ending all sorts of discriminatory policies and practices including so-called untouchability. The proposal calls for mobilization of special economic programme for education, health and employment for dalits and those under the absolute poverty line to their status. The constitution of the kingdom of Nepal 1990 prohibits all types of discrimination against citizens on the basis of caste, gender or religion. But activists said a number of discriminatory provisions and laws were still in practice. Addressing the House session on Sunday, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Narendra Bikram Nemwang said untouchability was a social crime and that the government would introduce a new bill soon to make necessary amendments in the existing Act. Earlier, the House of Representatives has already declared Nepal a secular state and asked the government to formulate laws so as to issue citizenship certificated to children in the name of their mother. Earlier, the certificate could be issued in the name of father only.

Why Sacrifice is not so wrong? If you are one of the people who are Hindu and Eat meat yet criticize the sacrificial ritual then I have to words for you: DUMB HYPOCRITE!!!! Yes, I am offending you and I will give you the reason why. Ok Felicity, Have you ever wondered, what keeps human beings Social? How do you meet people and what do you do most of the time? What is one of the main things that give your identity of your culture? The answer is Food. Believe it or not .The food is very uniting force. A modern day example would be Newars of Kathmandu. You can see most of the time they are involved in Bhoj and all. But this has preserved their ethnicity, food and culture and has their identity. That is one of the main reason they are united .As food brings people together. May it be meat in the festival? A 8 year kid knows that the stone statue is not going to be alive and eat the sacrificial goat’s head then do you think these Aryans are so dumb. So who eats the goat? Of course people who sacrifice. May it be in the name of God? The reasons that these kind of ritual existed is because they used to bring people – community together for a reason, keep them united. What could be a good reason than through stomach? Then you ask why meat? Why not. If animals were not meant to be eaten then we would not be here. The whole evolution would not have been possible if they have not dependent on meat. As the time passed these kinds of rituals became part of Hindu though its initial intention at those time was togetherness and fun – food. We have modern days entertainment- night clubs - bar well this could be one of the social method of connection. But you need to take account that time they did not had night clubs. Ok, now if you don’t eat meat and you are saying sacrifice is wrong. Well you are 50 % correct .Yes; eating meat is wrong for some people hence make this wrong. If human physiology was not meant to eat meat then our teeth would not have this structure. And you would not have existed caused there would have been big full stop in the evolution. I kind of give you 50% correctness. As there are advantage of being vegetarian as well. You need to understand, who you to change this food chain are. This is food chain and we human beings are on top. If you are person who eats meat. Likes to eat shekuwa and beer and again like talking sh*t about sacrifice. Then let me tell you, you are the reason why there is sacrifice. Because of your hunger for meat. What difference does it make it is killed with halal style or from chappa hani? What difference does it make whether you kill the poor animal in front of stone or in the butcher’s backard?what difference does it make who kills it ?killing is killing there is no justification for it (unless you believe in food chain).you are equally responsible. If you feel sorry for killings of animal then stop eating meat and I will agree with you 50% Else SHUT UP AND EAT MEAT!!!!!

Thanks Imi... for more information. Yes, i am vegetarian. But I am fully aware of food chain and think meat is provided to us to nourish our body.... that;s fine. personnally, i can't eat meat... it has been very difficult for me..esp. here in the US ...but i guess... it is just my own personal choice not to. i grew up with lots of pet and couldn;t bring myself to eat meat. But... i dont oppose ppl who eat meat.... i can even cook for my family. But sacrificing animal.... is something else. It is like,,,, when in dashain... u sacrifice not with a whole purpose of eating.... but just making statues happy....then u r killing more than necessary. i agree that finally u end up eating the meat... but lot get wasted and it is more than reuired as well. THere are many uses of animals besides meat, yes? Eat only that much which will nourish your body and soul/// when u eat more than that... it is definitely wasted and make u sick even...with deadly cancers and heart disease.

Lovebuzz...ofcourse the father gets credit too. It is not about mother or father literally.. it is abt creator. Okay... so ur dad is the one who created u... then would u like to be paying ur due respects to someone else?? However, on a lighter note, I sthink...mothers should be credited more for a person's existance in the world.... afterall she is the one who give her flesh and blood and has to go through rebirth of her own self.

Imi... although I might respect all religions in retrospect///.. i am not being able to bring myself to say that out loud that i respect the things i dont believe in. I oppose the bad things in any religion. Like i say.... all this killing goin on in a name of Jihad.... i totally abhor that...similarly with caste system in nepal and polytheism. I am truly imbibing what u have been teaching me thus far...and i am sure a more knowledgeable person than last week.... still.. concept of polytheism is getting hard for me to grasp. I wuld like to hear your take on that. Enlighten me :)

IMI,..food can play a very important role in socialization as well..... I am a food connoisseu, but still for me ....what keeps human being social is their common interest in things and food for thoughts. Here, see w r like a coterie in this posting. we dont have food involved here.... but we r being social and conversing here.....based on our common interests.

felicity, i was little rough in last thread. The thing i am trying to say is Jihad is not part of islam either .these are the things people interpret wrong.so you cannot blame religion for it.I am just in simple words trying to say this :There is meaning to it ,when said and when they were done.It loses signifiance but hangs on as part of socio-cultural part which is taged as per religion.well i can explain the polyetheism to the way i look at it.

Okay Imi.... although i dont appreciate ur tone on previous posting..... i do have to agree that u tried ur best to share ur knowledge with me. Thanks for that. At least we r on the same page that it is not really the religion that is bad....it is the socio-cultural aspect that has been misleading us, and all religion basically teaches to live in peace in farmony. there r things that r bad....which need to be abolished in any religion. one of these days, as i get to know more, i will sure share my knowledge abt Islam too...as that will be only fair to share as u have shared knoledge abt hinduism. We will explore more. Anyways, i thank u for all ur kindness.

OK I AM DONE WITH THIS THREAD. I ONLY TRIED TO TELL FELICITY THAT WE NEED TO LOOK EVERY ASPECT OF THINGS AND NOT BLAME RELIGION FOR IT AS I THOUGHT SHE WAS WITH SOME OF HER COMMENTS IN PAST .(HEHEH YOU NEED TO DIG A LOT) AND MANY OTHERS DID . NOW THAT I KNOW SHE IS CHANGING HER PERCEPTION .I HAVE NOTHING TO SAY.SHE IS SMART :) SHE CAN FIGURE THINGS OUT.FELICITY AS I SAID I WAS ROUGH YOU DID NOT HAD TO REMIND ME OF MY TONE :) IF I HADN'T REALIZED THAT I WOULD NOT HAVE POSTED ANOTHER THREAD IMMEDIATELY.SORRY:) AND THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST AND LISTENING> SHE HAS FREEDOM TO CHOOSE WHATEVER RELIGION SHE WANTS TOO. I WAS NOT TRYING TO CONVERT HER BACK TO HINDUISM.SHE WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT IT SO I GAVE MY INTERPRETATION . HAPPY LOOTE WITH NO RELIGION ,GOOD FOR YOU ! RELIGION IS JUST THE WAY THATS HELPD FIND HAPPINESS.IF YOU ARE HAPPY WHY DO YOU NEED RELIGION? TEXAN :SORRY ! BORED YOU! IN COMING DAYS WHEN SHE DOES LEARN MORE ABOUT ISLAM ,HOPE SHE DOES.SHE WILL SHARE FEW THINGS WITH US.GOOD LUCK FELICITY AND OTHERS. CONCLUSION: NO RELIGION IS BAD SO LETS NOT TRY TO BLAME HINDUSIM OR ANY RELIGION FOR ITS WRONG INTERPRETATION BY FEW AND SOCIAL EVILS EXISTING IN THE SOCIETY DUE TO THAT!!

Sorry guys (LK Ji and Texan Ji) for disappointing, I am not done yet :). Before continuing writing (I don't know when will I write) I would like to thank Felicity and ImI for their comments. ImI Ji, I value your point, however, I would like to differ my view from you. Regarding caste system, I would have no problem if it were just a labor division. Tell me why Bhanubhakta's poems are pious and Bhane Gandharba's songs are impious? Tell me what makes Bishowjit's sward holy and Bishe Nagarchi's needle untouchable? I am kind of person who believe that labor should not be biased. Pen has its own importance so does broom. A scholar and a sweaper are different, but they shouldn't be descriminated. If you want to say pen does great work than broom, I will be fine with that. However, I won't approve the system where sweeper's brillient son is bound to be a sweeper and scholar's idiot doll son is considered scholar. Will you? I have nothing against caste system, but I am strongly against the descrimination. If you are with me fine, if not, what is your logic?

Regarding killing: I will never approve killing at any cost. I believe every being should have right to live. It's a jungle law where stronger eats the weaker. I am very much aware that this will never happen. However, anybody who wants happiness in life has to live a wholesome life and killing can not be part of the wholesome life. Religion teaches people to live happily and harmoniously. A person, who practice violence, enjoy violence, can't be happy. Violence brings restlessness and restlessness kills the peace and if there is no peace there is no happiness. If any religion (pure or corrupt) promote violence. I will not approve it. I have fixed mind in this regard, I don't think any logic or reason can change me on this. I strongly believe that non-violence is incomparable over violence. People will not stope eating meat, I have nothing against it. However, it is so naive and uncivilized to kill innocent animal by the name of religion. If someone think s/he got merit by killing innocent animals, there could be no dumber than this person.

Felicity wrote: Vishontar... I am not running away from hinduism... i am just trying to find the best FOR ME. Felicity Ji, To find best for you, you should do comparative study of all the religion. To my limited understanding you are only studying Koran. I am really surprised that what brought you to Koran instead of Tripithaka or Geeta? If you are really doing comparative religious studies, normal process should be Geeta -> Tipithaka -> Koran. Since you rejected our thory of a Muslim boyfriend, can you exactly tell us what made you suddenly jump over Koran, which seems unnatural transition? Being born as a Hindu and raised in Hindu-Buddhist society will not tell you the real teaching of these religions. Next I will continue my posting...............

Right said Imi..... swikaare...maile...... theres another news bout the Dalit movement where the only Federation DNF came to a split. the reason behind? As far as i know, the 4 catagory division inside the dalit community ! The upper class dalits 'Biswokarmas' get to be nourished with all fruits of dalit movement where as the other three downtrodden were becoming poorer..... the common team of all 4 sub-castes announced another DNF..... Another thing is that....... one faction is blamed to be pro-royalist while another is termed as 'Kaangreshiyaa' and there are two more affiliated with UML and the maoists. See what politics and political influence has done .... what politically motivated leaders inside social organisations have done! There has to be something to end all this......there has to be......!!! gaaro chhaaa........huna ta thopa thopa ke saagar banchhaa saathi....tapai haami ma sudhaar aayo bhane....tapai haami najikai ka ta sachet hunchan ! ek din awasya aauchhaa...jaha samaajik nyaya...samaanta ...maryadaa......satya saabit hunechhaa...... Jai Nepali Janata.
