Nepal, officially the federal democratic republic, is an impeccable state of cultural diversity and heritage. The diverse religious values, peace and harmony identify Nepal as one of the most beautiful nations apart from the natural beauty that it has to offer. The national animal of Nepal is Cow. The totemic representation of Goddess Laxmi, the cow is a highly venerated animal in Nepal with a majority of 80 percentage Hindu followers throughout the nation. The cow is also regarded as a symbol of motherhood. The harmony and religious advocacy of cow is not only limited to the cultural practices of Hindus but also it has a huge scientific reasonings stating the importance of cow. The national animal of Nepal is not only venerated for the huge religious significance but also protected by the government sector prohibiting slaughter and violence.
The remarkably important part of the cow, getting identified as the national animal of Nepal, is mainly the religious values. Nepal is formerly a Hindu nation with highly celebrated Hindu practices. Now, after the federal democratic movement, Nepal identifies itself as a secular Nation, however, the cow has not been removed as the National animal of Nepal. The majority of the population of Nepal follows the Hindu religion. The constitutional protection of cows shields the cow slaughter and trade of beef items in Nepal. The National symbol of Nepal, Cow, is declared as the national animal of Nepal in 2015.
