Folks, I am looking for your inputs based on your experience of investing/managing liquid assets in Nepal. Are there the likes of Fidelity, Vanguard type of online brokers to invest in financial vehicles such as mutual funds, stocks etc? What are the best options for managing liquid assets worth between 50 lakhs and 1 crore in Nepalese currency while being stationed abroad? Due to limitation of currency exchange by Nepal Rastra Bank, transferring funds back and forth between Nepal and abroad may not be possible. I understand many people invest in land or house back in Nepal. Due to high inflation, the returns from bank interests or similar form of short term deposits may not mean much in value compared to the increase in value or land or house over a period of time. But, at the same time, managing land or house remotely while being thousands of miles away is also another challenge. Could you please share your thoughts or experience on this topic? I would appreciate your suggestions. Thanks.

yes, u can invest in IPOs , secondary stock market, mutual funds and also in debentures in Nepal. Every thing is online nowadays in nepal but u still cannot open all the accounts online needed for investing /trading . They ask, at least once u need to go their offices, for verification of signature. In Nepal, u need meroshare account , demat account, bank account and broker account. Once you open them u can invest / trade from anywhere.
