I am being offered to hire by a company called cognizant. I did a search on the internet and it appears that this is a company based in India and had 354 million turnover in 2005. Any body knows about this company and what should I ask for?

My biggest concern after working in a number of US companies is that everytime my contract states something like both parties may cancel this contract without any further obligation. Can I ask to be given notice of atleast 2 weeks before any impending layoff?
Is this done? I know that in europe companies are required to give notice.
