Hi fellows, I have a BS in Biology and planning to go to graduate school but I am in a big dilemma, i am finding it hard to decide my graduate major. I am very much interested in working with the wild life projects, documentaries (like national geographic), and my dream career is much like focused in the outside world rather than concealing myself in the research lab for hours. So, please suggest me which one i should be going with, and also, please suggest me in terms of job opportunities. Thanks!
Youwanpras bro, I am on the same boat as you are. BS in Biochemistry but feel claustrophobic in a Laboratory. I have been thinking about conservation biology, conservation genetics, ecology etc. One day I asked my college professors what should I do. They advised me that PHD programs that I am interested in will not land me a job. They recommended me genetics, immunology etc. They also said, you can always integrate your research with the wild.
I am still having the same dilemma. Have you applied to any programs yet?
thanks ICY and Nightelf. Night: no I haven't applied for any colleges yet. I am looking some universities around DC area, or East coast. I heard some universities in Midwest are good for molecular biology... If you want we can share information. shoot me an email in my inbox with your phone or email.thanks,
I think for people that do not like working within a lab, PhD in Molecular Biology (sort of encompasses Microbiology, Genetics, Cell biology, Biochemistry..) might not be the best idea.
