Yeah, you don't need SS# but you need credit card and drivers license. Its a long way travel by car. If you are traveling by other folks then it makes a fun trip but by yourself !! I don't know its a good idea.

You can simply go to any online we sites like hotwire.com, cheaptickets.com and much more and just rent there...

SS should not be asked, check other car rental. Did you check Enterprises?

SS is not for rent a car.

You have to show credit card or SSN. No SSN means no credit card. No one will take Debit card for rental propose. You have to show Credit card and you can pay from Debit card or any other methods though.

Anybody can rent car and add your name on it, it doesnt necessarily mean he has to pay. You can pay while returning the vehicle. For accidents and everything you will be responsible but when the car is lost (worst case), they will catch the credit card guy.

SO you have to make him/her believe that you are not fleeing. It should be easy for you

yeah i checked and actually yeah they are allowing me rent a car without ss too but they askin for my utility bill.and iam living with my cousin .i tried  by phone bill and car insurance papaer too but they are askin for utility bill :(

Dude, seriously, get a hint. Nobody is going to give you a SS just by knowing u online. You shouldn't waste your time further and actually reach out to people you know personally. If I knew you personally I wouldn't mind going with you and renting the car in my name. Reach out peronally, not electronically.

Does your cousin have DL? Rent under his name and put yourself as a second driver and pay by your credit card. Mission Accomplished.
