I have a question regarding DV. I am currently in H1 B and one of my cousins got the first letter for DV 2011.  So she was asking if she can put me as point of contact in US. Is it better to have someone who has a GC or citizen as point of contact?

Yes it is better to have someone with GC or citizenship as point of contact, but she can put you as point of contact as well. Should not be any problem.

My cousin also got DV and put me as point of contact(I am on H1B). Now he is in USA.

Congrats to your cousin.

jptsamachr bro, the person with GC doesnot have to worry about joining any college to maintain status hence can save his/her hard earned money, unlike the one with student visa.

Also, I have seen many nepalese who have money but no status and vice versa, so not able to go to nepal to see his/her beloved ones. At aleast DV holder has this much freedom that he can go in/out of USA.

But all have to work, whether they have GC or not. And I know GC will not guarantee u a high paying or high position job. They both have to work it.

But I see little more advantage having GC, if a person wants to shape up his./her career. My 2 cents
