With an estimated official death toll of more than 300, the recent 8.9-magnitude earthquake in Japan has been claimed as the one of the largest in the century.
The earthquake has wreaked so much havoc in Japan that the developed nation is struggling to keep up with the devastation.
This situation of Japan is a sign of grave danger that Nepalese face if a similar earthquake occurs in Nepal.
According to the National Society for Earthquake Technology, Nepal is ”a seismic prone country and the risk it faces from earthquakes are very high.” Two earthquakes of magnitude 7.5-8 are expected every forty years and one earthquake of magnitude of more than 8 is expected every eighty years.

Hope for the best, prepared for the worst, so that earthquake like 8.9 wont hit to nepal
Existing Government and Municipal Policies on Earthquake Risk Reduction, Response, and Preparedness
This project was implemented by the Ministry of Physical Planning and works with the support of UNDP Nepal. The objective was to make a study of existing Government and Municipal Policies and make recommendations of necessary policies for earthquake risk reduction. municipalities like Biratnagar, Hetauda, Pokhara, Surkhet, Nepalgunj, and Surkhet were visited for necessary recommendations.
