Call a lawyer to help you sue for damages. S/he should have enough assets to liquidate to pay for the damages incurred to your vehicle.

Some liability insurance also has uninsured motorist coverage. If you have that, then u can get money from your insurance company. If not so, then tell the person who hit u clearly to reimburse your damages or you will sue him. Sometimes, he/she agrees to pay. If not so, go to the police station and file lawsuit against the driver.

First talk to that person for reimbursement . if u get negative response, sue him/her. u don't need to go thru lawyer, u will be paying him a lot. Sue urself. In most states, cases involving 5000 or less are handled by small courts where u and ur opponent go without lawyer and describe ur petition and the decision will be made.
