I am with tmobile and trying to buy an iphone 4 from craiglist! Heard a lot about non unlockable baseband and version!
Which version or baseband of iphone 4 is unlockable? And which is not?

Sn0wbreeze 2.4 supports Ultrasn0w unlock for basebands (01.59.00 / 04.26.08 / 05.11.07 / 05.12.01 / 05.13.04 / 06.15.00) ultrasn0w is NOT compatible with the following basebands (02.10.04 / 03.10.01 / 04.10.01 / 05.14.02 / 05.15.04) Most of the time i use sn0wbreeze to jailbreak idevices. And there's always ultrasn0w to unlock compatible basebands. But be sure you check the baseband before you make a purchase. I recommend not to buy the iPhone thats stuck on iTunes screen cuz u never know.

Baseband is not matter for unlocking Iphone4. So you can unlock your iphone4 at any baseband, if you want to unlock your iphone4 use remote unlocking method. If you want to unlock your Iphone4 using that method visit wickedunlock.com

Americane,
I have seen (and I know many people who have done it) remote unlock in eBay. They charge you around 2 bucks and generally takes 12-24 hours. This is factory unlocking so if you update your phone iOS or restore your Phone, it doesn't get locked again. Ever.
