How to convert percentage grades of Tribhuvan University into GPA

Hey, are you looking for how to convert the percentage of Tribhuvan University into GPA? Now, you are in trouble, just like me. Anyway, I have solution too. Just wait!

I am a graduate student at Troy University. My advisor doesn’t know how to convert it since she had a former student with Tribhuvan University transcript in previous year. I visited many big heads but could not get the answer.

The Graduate Course of Study of Tribhuvan University (2004-05), M.A. English Program says, “A student who has passed his/her two years of study will be graded on the basis of the two years average marks as follows.

75 percent and above: Distinction
60 percent and above: First Division
50 percent and above: Second Division
40 percent and above: Third Division (p.3)

But, nowhere in the website or publication has material showed about the grading system. It is so stupid system that the scholars of TU are the abroad graduates yet they have not paid any attention when students get trouble about credentials. It’s really poor and aged-old system that Tribhuvan University is carrying on for decades. I wish it would end soon its decadence.

While visiting I got some website and bites of information about conversion of percentage into grade. Try if it is useful to you.

The most reliable source could International Credential Guide Book 2008-09 that says the Grading System of Tribhuvan University as below:

Grading System

Transcript Grade of Tribhuvan University US Equivalent
Division I/ Distinction A
Division II Merit B
Division III Pass C

Refer to transcript for individual numerical percentage

STEP II: How to Convert into GPA?
Percentage US Grade
60-100 A/GPA 4
55-59 B/GPA 3.33
50-54 C/GPA 3.0

STEP III : Percentage to GPA

The best solution is to ask your school for a conversion table to figure out your GPA. But if they don't have one, here is a simple percentage to grade conversion. Be warned that this may not be 100% accurate since your school may consider the range for each letter grade to be slightly different. Use this for a ball park estimate.A+ 97-100%A 93-96%A- 90-92%B+ 87-89% B 83-86%B- 80-82%C+ 77-79% C 73-76%Once you have converted your percentages to letter grades you can figure out your GPA. Use the point values for each of the letter grades you received for each class and add up the score. Divide by the number of classes you used in your calculation.A+ 4.3A 4.0A- 3.7 B+ 3.3B 3.0B- 2.7C+ 2.3
