I need some serious suggestions.
I am a legal immigrant here in the US. Currently I am working at Subway sandwich restaurant. The store is owned by Indian. I work hard and I am very loyal to them. But, they don't appreciate my work. The working environment is just insane. They do not respect their employee's work. Also, when I work there, it's my right to have a free employee meal but they charge me 50% for the sandwich. Also, I am not allowed to use soda cups. They have provided me their own stupid pink Indian glass and that glass seems to be used by someone else. Whenever I make sandwiches they come close to my ear and murmur saying I have put lots of veggies in the sandwich. There are no Americans working in the store. They hire Indians, Nepalese and Mexicans immediately. This kind of working environment is just painful for me. What should I do? Should I quit the job? Is there any way I can sue them for not maintaining working environment? What are the consequences for suing them? I need serious advice.

You have a 'legal immigrant' status please use it wisely.

thats a disaapointing story dont feel bad because many other people are being treated as same as you or even worst.. and just feel lucky that u r habin a job.. however u r a legal immigrants try finding job somewhere else.. and best thing i can show you what i have in me... i have a business concept..that will effect you and your future..

If I were in your place, I would definitely try to find another job. If the subway owner has any illegal employees ( may be indais/ Mexicains), may be you can report to the aurthority, or may be INS ( don't know). That owner need to be threatened. If you don't want to leave job, just don't work too hard, pretend like you work too hard.

Pure, find sth else if you dont like it so much.  I am sure you can find sth rightway.  Where are you btw?  If you are in any town populated with Neps you will easily find sth else.  You dont have to take that disgrace.  The more you take the more you will get.

Get  a lawyer and tell them you will go 50/50 with the settlement and no payment up front.  You have to prove beyond reasonable doubt that laws are being broken.  To charge you 50% for meal is legal.  Even McD does that.  Proving is going to be hard but can be done.

If you are legal and have no incidents ( they will try to prove you are a bad employee, coming late, stealing etc etc)  Case wont be settled over night and your name might get floated around Indian and Nepalese community --- thats one of the repercussion

Many of us gone through your experience in our own ways so you are not the only one but the only difference is most of us decided to make a change...

PS Consult a professional before any legal actions.

Atleast you are getting 50% discount for food. I know one Indian Subway owner whose employee are entitled for 10% discount. Having said that its totally unfair to pay for food if worked atleast 4 hrs per shift. Most of the Indian owners of Subway are jackass. Find another job and quit
