American care

- I am a frequent visitor to Nepal. Compared to the smelly stack of political haywire that seems to be running your country, I find King Gyanendra a noble person who is dedicated to uplifting his country. The Maoists are often blamed for bringing ruin to Nepalýs peaceful image. But worse than that, I think the politicians have contributed to making "beautiful Nepal" something quite opposite. The UN and some of the western donors, too, can take the blame for intervening unnecessarily in Nepalýs affairs and trying to fulfill their vested interests than serving Nepalis.Blame it too on your citizensý inability to understand what true democracy or respect for human rights is all about. But at least Nepalis can be considered lucky to have a wise king who is steering the country back to normalcy and political reforms. I wish we had American politicians with similar vision, too. This does not mean that I do not love Nepali people, they are the greatest peace-lovers on earth. And I have visited Nepal 18 times so far! But do something about your politicians please, rise up against them, and free yourself of corrupt ideological bondage and servitude. Better red than dead the Maoists might say on the other end. But I am glad that at least America cares about Nepal more than others.Jim Rushman
